Orange throated darter. I think we have them here in MI as I've seen some interesting "rainbow fish" swimming in the shallows of a river while fishing.

All I ever see is minnows....Nothing cool like that! Where in Mi are you?

You guys are good....now I know you all are experts. The article I seen also call them Rainbow Darters, Native to North America.

They would be nice to have!

I see them in the Flat river (Greenville area) in the spring which is when they spawn. They likely look like drab minnows when not in breeding mode.
