Mystery Snails Stuck Together

I have two snails and one has attached itself to the other. This hasn’t happened before and with some research I see it may be breeding? But my gold one appears to be really struggling to get around. Idk what’s going on here, first time snail owner.

No worries, they're just doing the dirty deed. Look out for egg sacs that are laid on the aquarium's cover.

Wonderful. I named them beauty and beast. I’m surprised I got the genders right, it just felt right haha. I feel bad if I have to get rid of some eggs but I don’t want baby snails. Thank you for the reply!

If you have something other than just snails in the tank, the babies are so small that basically everything eats them. You can probably just leave the eggs.

All I have is two nerite snails and two shrimp with them. They will be moved into a 10 gallon with African dwarf frogs once its cycled. Not sure if any of those will eat the eggs

Male snails will mount other snails without care for sex, most males don't care for a while then will shift their shell quickly to try and dislodge the other snail (females that are at their breaking point will also do this). The babies are between pin and pen point sized when they hatch, it takes them an average of 2 weeks to hatch out in a tank with good humidity (if there is little to no humidity happening the clutches must be misted so they can hatch), they are very small and most will get eaten by just about every fish. With lots of food and clean water they grow very fast, dime to nickel size within a couple months.

I would eliminate some eggs then. Or get a little fish or two.

Mcasella,
That is interesting because that is what happened when the brown snail mounted the yellow one and I thought it was struggling because it kept shifting its shell. Thank you for the information. I did some further research about telling the gender of a mystery snail and I think I can see the male part on my yellow snail? I can see the siphon, then on the opposite side something else is sticking out. So maybe I have two boys!

My two males do that to each other. And my two girls do it to each other too. I rarely see them doing it with the opposite gender lol
The girls only do it when the males are doing it though it's kinda funny
