    The spiral turning grey isn't anything to worry about imo, it's just part of the coloring. Some of mine have this too. The white flecks usually mean there isn't enough calcium in the water or their diet. Try putting cuttlebone in the tank and feeding more calcium rich foods like leafy greens and green beans.

    I tried putting cuttlebones inside the tank but they will always float. Any tips on making it sink to the bottom?

    Just leave it. After a while it will get water logged and sink. Will take a while though. Ir just tie it to an ornament or something.
