Mystery snail white film

I thought my mystery snail was dead but I think he is just having a hard time after I did a water change. Can someone tell me if my snail is on his way out or if this is just because my water parameters must be off after my cleaning? He pooped a lot and it was kinda stringy and now has this white film around the opening of the shell.

A bit about my tank, it's a 3gal tank for my kids and we just have the snail and Betta they have been really happy for the past 4 months and the snail was very active before this ordeal.

Usually if you smell a snail you will know if it is deceased. Rank. How much water are you changing when you do it? Snails usually dont react like that from a normal water change.

Yeah he is not dead yet, he moved a bit this evening but is he dying? Can I fix it?

Have you been feeding him wafers and fresh veggies? Your tank looks pretty clean.

Yes, we keep it pretty clean using the water vacuum every other weekend recycling the water back into the tank after straining out any solids. We also have a heater in the back of the tank. And we feed then fish flakes and sinking pellets and I just got some algae donuts from the fancy fish store lol

Do you just recycle the water or do you take some out and replace it with fresh water?

When you clean the tank do you clean everything? Deco, glass etc?

I would say to give your snail some fresh veggies like blanched zucchini or spinach. Something like that. He may just be hungry.

Yes I usually add a bit of conditioned water and rinse off the decor but not scrub it and the glass usually stays pretty clear so I don't need to scrub it every time.

Thank you for your help I guess I will add him back in and keep an eye on him ☺️
