5 Gallon Tank Mystery snail temp question.

Hi all,
I have a 5 gallon tank that I keep in my basement. The temp can drop down to around 50 Fahrenheit on the coldest winter nights, but usually stays around 60. I don't want to get a heater because I have cold water fish in the tank at the moment. My brother got a mystery snail but his betta would not let in come out of its shell so we moved it to this tank. Will a single mystery snail be OK in this temp?

Thanks

I don't think you can do that. Mystery snails really prefer warmer water.

Well you could re home him? Or buy like a little 1.5g tank or something. (Edit) actually you say the temp is around 60 that will be fine, sorry I miss read.

So he will be fine? My parents don't want any more tanks so I really hope so.

Mystery snails are very resilient. It might not do great at that temperature, but it will most likely survive. I've kept them at 65-80, but I'm sure they can go far below 65 short-term if needed.

He has almost completely buried his body in the gravel now. Does that mean anything or is he just being a snail?

I would keep an eye on him. It’s probably not a problem, but there might be an issue. Try adding a small amount of strong-scented fish food to one side of the tank and see if he unburies himself.

Just purchased an Ehiem Jager 50 watt heater for the tank because I want the best for my fishies. That should solve the temp dilemma.
