Mystery Snail Retreated Into Shell

I've got a mystery snail which recently went up to the top of the tank to get some air, then retreated into its shell and floated down to the bottom, where it has lain. The snail was generally active before this, and the water parameters are 0 ppm nitrates / nitrites and 0 ppm ammonia.

Is this normal behavior for mystery snails?

Update. Looks like she came out. Not sure what happened.

I think I’ve heard that sometimes MS “jump off” from the top of the tank on purpose

That's normal for them, nothing to worry about. Is your tank cycled? Sorry, just want to check, normally you would have some nitrates.

Yeah. the tank is going through a small cycle right now after I did a large substrate change. I am closely monitoring the water parameters and doing near daily water changes of 30% or so.

That makes sense. Good luck with your tank!
