Mystery Snail...love Or War?

I think they’re mating from what I found online...does that look right? They’re the only creatures living in the tank right now. I just fed them a shrimp wafer for the first time earlier, and that’s what you’re seeing around them that’s orange. (Please excuse their slightly messy tank.)

Mystery snails are only full of love for snails. Doesn't matter what kind of snail either.

They separated shortly after. Not sure what that means. I don’t know much of anything about mystery snail genders or mating if anyone has any resources they’d suggest.

I kept the magentas together separately just in case, and the blues and purples weren’t supposed to end up in the same tank but they are. Hopefully if they hook up they’ll keep a pretty color! I will be able to separate them in a month or so.

I plan to try raising a clutch if I ever get one. Doubtful since I don’t have many, but never know. Will probably get a 20 gal next time Petco has the $1/gallon sale (which I know just ended) or if there’s a good sale on a kit at Petsmart. That should be sufficient for a bit I think? At least until I find them homes. I don’t plan to keep too many, but I’m sure between here and local Craigslist I could find homes for most of them. Maybe even reach out to local pet stores? Someone locally sells cherry shrimp on Craigslist, so who knows really. Would be interesting to try since I’ve never actually tried to keep baby snails (definitely wasn’t trying to raise pond snails as a kid - those were just a nuisance!).

Males have an extra appendage. If you get one clutch, you'll get a dozen. I have a snail that'll lay a clutch almost every night. for weeks at a time. If you want them, lower your water level 2 inches.

They’re definitely mating! The one on the side will be the male. If you want eggs lower your water line a few inches and let the female be if you see her crawling around on the lid, she’ll find a place and lay eggs! Rachel o’leary has some great videos on YouTube on how to make a clutch incubator and how to hatch them.

they are indeed breeding, so make sure you water level is low enough, about three inches rom rim and wait, if you dont want the eggs simply throw them away or freeze them.
mine have been breeding for 2 weeks now and still no eggs, the femals can hold the sperm for months i she chooses to lol
