Mystery snail floating??

I have 3 mystery snails. I just got the third one today and ever since I took him out to sex him at the store he's been floating. I tried turning him upside down and gently moving him to try to get any air out of his shell.

Whenever he isn't attached to the glass/decor/gravel he floats. He suctioned to a green bean mid eating and ended up floating with it. Can I help him?? if it was a water quality issue I would assume my other two would be floating as well.
he's really active and has an apetite

The tank is cycled and I have lots of calcium in it

Try weighting down the bean at the bottom of the tank until he is finished eating and gets off.
If he is just floating around, not attached to anything, that generally means they are unhappy with their environment and you should check your water levels.

Could just one snail be picky about water? there was no filter at the store and there was like, 10 snails in a 5 gallon tank, and out of the 3 I got only he's floating. I'm starting to think it's just trapped air I can't get out

I need to do a water change today anyway so i'll test the water in the morning to be sure

It could be trapped air like you suggested. I don't think one snail would do it and not the rest of the water wasn't good.
Pick him up and put him up against a plant to give him the chance to grab onto something. If it doesn't work, do the smell test. A dead snail will smell.

He could be stressed or have air trapped. I’ve had some mystery’s that float around and then eventually let the air out or just end up going back down on their own and being completely fine. I would suggest leaving him alone for a day and see what he does, you don’t want to hurt him or stress him more

He did it again but I saw him float back down after a few seconds so I guess he's fine now

Yeah some just do it to play around I think

I think that is perfectly normal. They do that to reach food and/or travel. I feed them floating pellets and they all end up at the surface. They suck the food at the surface in until they can encircle it with their foot and eat easily. I had a lot of duckweed that they decimated in a short time with this strategy.

I’ve had a couple of my baby purple mystery’s cruise along the roots and bottom of my water lettuce.

I’ve also had some on my mystery’s come to the top of the water line and grab food with their foot and eat it. I had one mystery that would come to the top and beg for food.
