Mystery snail climbs up the tank wall and out of the water?

My mystery snail climbs up the tank wall and out of the water (not out of the tank, though). Any ideas why he/she might be doing this? Is it possible that it is a female that became pregnant at the LFS and is ready to lay eggs? (I haven't had it long, and it only started doing this today.)

Mystery snails are not really male or female, they're hermaphrodites and they can all lay eggs, which they do above the water line. Leave an inch or two of open space at the top of the tank if you want baby snails.

 

Heres a cool Snail site. It will help you figure out what kind of snail you really have. there are several snail species called mystery snails and some are hermaphrodites and some aren't Theres a lot of info on care of your snail also. Enjoy!!

As far as them not going out of the tank LOL do be careful to keep the tank covered. I caught Creamy half way to my front door one night when I had him in an uncovered container and the next day trying to get under my entertainment center!!! That snail could GO!! The union of two of mine in the q tank has produced a bunch of little albino mystery snails and I am going to raise them and let the place where I bought them have them back to dispose of/sell as they want to. The literature I originally got from the place I got them from said they were sexual beings (male/female) and would only have offspring if mated. But cautioned me to the fact that if 2 females or 2 males were in the same tank for a period of time that one of them would "reassign" gender for the purpose of propogation. I do not know how reliable this is - just telling as I was told.

we have two snails and ours comes out the water the same as yours, if you see something coming out of them that is there lung (thingy ) lol. they need fresh oxygen evry so often and so they stick that thing out to fill their lungs with oxygen
