I occasionally find fish mixed in with our ghost shrimp shipments, and recently I found 2 fish that we haven't been able to ID. The long thin fish has a black stripe with 2 black dots on his upper back . The other smaller fish was harder to get a good picture of but he looks like he is striped. Any ideas on what they could be?

Leaving a reply just because I'm curious too.

I thought tge striped one was a bluefin killifish juvenile but im not 100% because it has the 2 dots on its back. Hard to tell what the first one is until it settles in and colours up more

I think that the second fish is some sort of cichlid, and the first one is maybe a baby denison barb.
No idea on the barb. But I agree that the other one definitely looks like a cichlid of some kind.

Second fish is a juvenile Cichlid of some sort, and will definitely require some growth before we could make a guess as to species.

First fish is a bit more confusing. The band looks rather narrow for a Bluefin Killie, but other characteristics seem to fall into place. The two black dots are likely just parasites, relatively harmless to aquarium fish.

Again, I'd prefer to see the fish in a darker environment, settled in to show its colors.
