My Walmart is(was) amazing

The Walmart I used to go to had a employee who knew a lot about keeping fish. I saw no dead fish in their tanks after she took over the fish section. But know I think that they fired her because they weren't making enough money. Last time I went, there were a lot of dead fish and some guy who knew nothing about fish

Either he quit or messed up somewhere. Dead fish and a new employee costs the company money.
I hope he figures it out soon though. I hate going into PetCo and seeing all the sick fish.

Luckily for me I have 4 pet stores near me! 2 Petcos, 1 lfs, and 1 petsmart. The lfs is smaller than the size of a classroom but they have fish that big chain stores don't sell. The 2 Petco near me are fabolous! The farther one (15 min) has a wide range of selection of plants and fish and most of the time the fish are all healthy. The 2nd Petco (10 min) also has healthy animals (its a new Petco- built last year) however the selection is small, they only have 8 tanks for freshwater. The Petsmart (15 min) on the other hand doesn't have a lot of healthy fish. I did by my 8 corys from them since they had a $1 per cory sale. I inspected the tank to make sure none of the fish were diseased. However the water is kind of cloudy and some tanks the fish have fungus. The 2 Petcos also have the healthy bettas! They have those grid like holders so that the bettas can't see each other!

Recently I found the freshwater fish are all sick in both PetCo's I've been to, there is a third one but I wasn't there to look at fish. They looked like they were healthier from a glance, though. It's about 45 minutes away vs the 15 minute one, so I don't go there. I went there by accident

My LFS takes great care of their fish though! I was actually surprised to see. They did have fish in tanks too small, but it wasn't 50 common goldfish in one tank or anything.

Yeah the stores are very different! I've been to petco though at other states or even a 10 miles since I was on vacation and some aren't that good. You can't really judge the company by just one store since that is management problems! Not all managers care about animals and are there just to make money so they won't tell the employees to take better care. The employees also sometimes aren't that good

The local Walmart near me that carries fish, always makes me sad. They have like 8 tanks. The water is dark and greenish, plus there are so many dead fish. It is so sad.
