My Two Bettas!

Hello there! I’m brand new to these forums, and have recently gotten bitten by the betta bug. I work inside a pet store for a dog food company and my kiosk faces the betta cups. ...the end result here is that I keep taking the sad, sick looking ones home.

First, we have Tom Petty. He wasn’t doing well at all in his cup (and I’m told he might be a youngin). He’s been with me for three weeks and he is transforming! He was sold to me as a half moon double tail.

Then there’s my newest, Warren Zevon. He was in the store for at least a month, and his color is completely gone. I got him into his new setup and he, er, got fishy bedroom eyes the next day. He’s a veiltail.

Tom has turned into a fiesty little butthead and Warren is calmer and looks like a fancy Victorian Ghost.

...I’m a little new here so I’m hoping I posted my pictures right.

They both look amazing. It's a good sign they're making bubble nests!

One is! The other, Tom Petty, doesn’t make them but I’m pretty sure he’s a happy little butthead all the same. He loves to nip my finger and actually tries to wiggle around my hand and get pet. ...I don’t have the heart to tell him about his slime coat.

Kudos to you for adopting the ones most in need of loving care.

I knew you were a good person right off the bat by the names you chose, especially people who even know who Warren zevon is. But the fact that you rescue the ones that need it the most, is so awesome! Kudos to you! And those two lucky little guys.

Thank you, everyone! I love these little guys. I’m really excited because I just bought a ten gallon that I’m going to put a divider in, and that way they can have a few more gallons each to play around in. For the 2.5s I’ll have left over, who knows? Maybe I’ll try some shrimpies.

Just had to add a new picture—Warren Zevon is still colorless (maybe permanently?) but look at those pretty fins.

He does! I’m really loving his ghosty look under the lights.

Gorgeous! I made the mistake of feeding my opal Betta bloodworms, he's pink now ( My bad, I totally did not connect it would alter his coloring) . He's also **** at me and swims away. Any idea how long fish hold a grudge? Gandulf the White is now pink , lol
