My Tamaskan And Husky Babies

Hello,
Although I am an all around animal and fish lover, I'd have to say my two baby dogs take a special place in my heart and I wanted to share them with you guys, so here is Dunkin (tamaskan) and Kota (husky). They are the sweetest babies there could be even though they look a little intimidating. I adopted Kota from a shelter about 6 months ago and I could not have gotten luckier, she's the sweetest, most well behaved baby I've ever seen. We got her dna tested and she's a purebred siberian. Does anyone else on the forum have some wolfy dogs? I would love to see them!

Amazing, such beautiful dogs! My brother is convinced that he is a husky lover and will have some when he's older, but he has zero experience with them at all, he's only seen photos.

What is it like to own huskies? Any tips of wisdom that you could give a beginner?

Thank you so much!
The husky is a great dog in my opinion, but not necessarily for first time dog owners. In my experience, Dunkin was a handful, he's a tamskan husky so he's very similar in behavior to them. Training him was very difficult because they're not very food motivated. And although Dunkin loves me and would sometimes try very hard to do what I was telling him other times he would be very husky-like and would defy my commands and instead literally "talk'' back to me. Oh yeah that's another thing, they like to talk and can be very loud if they want attention at 4 o'clock in the morning as puppies, but you can train them not to talk unless asked, or at least I did for the most part. Kota on the other hand we rescued at 6 months so she was not quite a puppy anymore, but all I can say is I never had a problem with Kota. She was fully trained in about a week, very trainable, and she the most affectionate little girl ever. But the one thing about huskies is you need a biggg fence and you must always have them on a leash. Although they might love you so much, if they have the opportunity they're going to explore. And they'll go far. Kota has never ran away as I have taken the necessary precautions because of my experience with Dunkin. He has run away a few times, and when he does he doesn't want to come back until he wants to come back. Huskies really have a mind of their own, if they don't want to do something they're not going to do it. you should try to never have your dog run away as much as you can, as they can get into fights with other dogs or wild animals, or they could get hit my a car. Either case would be devastating. You also must exercise them a lot everyday or they will get restless and destructive.

But besides that I wouldn't have any other type of dog ever again. They love cuddling and kissing. I swear Dunkin thinks he's a little lap dog, he tries to sit in my lap any second he can! They're always at my side and follow me anywhere, and once you get around training them they're very good listeners! I've never had either one try to bite anyone and they love kids and small dogs. I'd say the only down side to a husky is their fur everywhere, but I think its an equal trade in for all the love they give you. You must brush them everyday and they sell furminator at petco and its a must for huskies unless you want literal tumble weeds that appear in your house only minutes after vacuuming in shedding season lol. But yes very nice dogs I recommend them to everyone who has the time to walk them or run with them everyday.

HI yams08 just saw your beauties and they're totally gorgeous ...it's funny but the main dog owners around here are mainly staffies and husky owners

This is an older picture of my boy. He's 13 now and just the sweetest. He's a husky... mix. I think. I got him at the SPCA. Husky standard says max 60lbs for a male, he was 75lbs when he was in shape and he's way taller than he should be... Anyway, he's 100% good dog, that's what matters. I love him so, so, so much.

He's definitely husky, but I've seen young female mals in the ring who are dead ringers for him.
