    Hi guys,
I am preparing to stock my new 50 gallon tank. This isn't my first aquarium but I just want some 3rd party input.

    2 Dwarf Gouramis
    3-5 Corydoras Catfish

    (Possibly): 6 Rummynose tetras
    OR
    6 Danios

    Any recommendations?

I wouldn't do two dwarf gouramis unless you can find a male and female.

I'd skip danios with the gourami, as gouramis are quite placid while danios are insanely high-energy. And do sterbai corydoras if you go with the rummynose tetras, as both prefer warmer water (high 70s).

All that said, you can definitely fit more fish in your tank than what you have proposed :)

What other fish would you recommend?

What are you looking for? Do you want a calm or active tank? Personality, color, both? Do you want to stick with fish from one region of the world, or not concerned about that? Plants or not? Do you like lots of schooling fish, or maybe just one school and some larger centerpiece fish?

I'd prefer a calmer tank with some personality. I will have plants in that aquarium.

    I'd suggest something like:

1 dwarf gourami (or a male/female pair), or 3 pearl gouramis (1 male, 2 female)
8-10 rummynose tetras or harlequin rasboras
    6 cherry barbs
    6-8 sterbai corydoras
2-3 German, electric blue, or gold rams (you can mix and match, all the same species; 1 male plus 1 or 2 females)

And keep the temp around 80.
