My Petsmart Bad Luck...

So hI everyone,
I have found that whenever I don't have room or can't afford a new betta, THAT'S when PetSmart gets Dumbo Ears, Double tails, and Dragonscales. I actually asked an employee why they only have the goodies when I can't get them! Lol! They were trying hard not to laugh! It was SO funny! The next time I can get a betta, I'm getting one of my favorites listed above! LOL!

Something you may want to do, is take change when you get it and just throw it in a jar. That's something I have done for years. When I bought my used 100 gallon tank, stand, and canopy I cashed in the amount I needed for the deal.

For the bettas, that's really annoying! That's how I feel! What about having a betta savings account? Or just having credit card for only bettas???!

 

Credit Cards, I've pretty much live on cash alone. I have one card to use at Military Exchanges for major purchases only< washer, dryer. refrigerator, range etc...

Your PetSmart actually sells fancy betta fish? Mine only ever has turquoise crown tail females OR 'dragon scale' Veil Tail / regular veil tail bettas that are urine yellow in color that no one wants so they sit in their cups for months, though I once did get a half moon there, but he was so sickly he never flared once in the 5 months that I had him. My PetCo has fancy bettas, but I have awful luck with the bettas from there.

Yep! And the worst diseases they ever have are fun rot and sbd. The water is also really clean. And the employees ACTUALLY know what their talking about! Also, that's too bad. Sounds like my sister and her cat adopting luck.

 

We have 2 of each here in town, the fancier bettas are usually priced cheaper than PetCo, but PetCo here usually has a lot of double tails and half-moons, whereas PetSmart seems to have veiltails and crowntails. Though, had to fight HARD to walk out of a LFS without the purple veiltail they had....

This last time that I couldn't get a betta they had a yellow, white, and violet Dumbo Ear! I was trying so hard to resist!!

The PetSmart here has all kinds. Veils, Crowns, Halfmoons, Double tails, Dumbos and Butterflies. All different colors too. They had one last week I would have bought if I didn't have Benny. It was a pretty blue Halfmoon Dumbo with white streaks in the tail and dorsal fins. The Dumbo fins were pure white. He cost $14.99 and was gone when I went back 2 days later. I hope he wasn't bought by the type of customer I saw later. There was a woman with a little girl. They were looking at the Bettas and the kid asked if they could get 2 of them. The mother said yes and I had to butt in and say you can't do that because they will fight to the death. The woman thanked me but I saw them checking out later with a Betta and one of the half gallon "tanks" they keep on the same end cap shelving as the fish. They have one quart containers too. The biggest thing on that end cap is one gallon. No filters or heaters either. The little girl might be mourning the loss of her pet soon.

Oh My Gosh! Me too! I saw two guys the other day at Petsmart getting a shredded veiltail and a half gallon tank! It took all my restraint not to go over there and tell them off! They were tapping on the cup as well, not to mention sharp plastic plants! I was SOOOOOO MAD!!! Also, if I ever owned a fish store, I'd keep my bettas in a four gallon tank each with a filter, heater, light, lava rock, live plants, and hides! I also would only sell tanks 3 gallons and above.

 

I saw someone buying one otto to go with their betta in a 5 gallon tank. I told them that the otto would die from being alone, so they didn't buy it. I told them leave the betta alone in the 5 gallon, that he didn't need or want a 'friend' but IDK if they listened. At least they didn't buy the poor otto!

I saw an orange GRAY and WHITE crowntail, if I didn't have bucky I would have got him in a heart beat. It took all my willpower to walk away
