My new lavender calico goldfish

I was browsing at my local pet store about a week ago and saw some new goldfish in the tanks, including some calicos. There was one very pretty friendly girl but I have enough goldfish and decided not to get her. I went shopping with my mum today and mentioned that fish, and she said are you crazy, don't get another fish! I said I know, I wasn't planning on it.

Anyway we stopped by the pet store so she could buy an ornament for one of my tanks (she's a devoted pet grandma lol). I saw that particular fish was still there and showed her to my mum. She took one look and said are you crazy, get her! Haha.

So now I have 7 goldfish  This is the new lavender calico, Ivy. The others in this tank are Sylvie (orange calico), Flora (panda), and Herbie (orange telescope). Fingers crossed she stays the lavender colour :)

Thank you! Actually I took out all the substrate a couple of weeks ago to see how they go with a bare bottom tank. Even though I was siphoning the gravel at least twice a week, I couldn't believe the amount of gunk that got stirred up when the gravel came out. This has been much easier to keep clean. (Having said that, it was like diatom city before water change and scrub yesterday ) Pic below is from after the gravel removal.

Flora gave Ivy a few nips at first to let her know who's in charge, and then was like "all good, carry on then" :D

Ahww settled in nicely then. Really nice looking tank, well done! What size is it? Looks like my old juwel lido 200 cube.

Thanks! It's only a 60 litre, but the goldfish are babies so it's oversized for the moment even with 4 of them in there. Juwel Lido is actually the one I'm planning on ordering for that spot when I need to do a size upgrade! :D Then this one will go into the kitchen instead. Did you find Juwel is a good make of tank?

Looks way bigger than a 60 litre, I thought they were quite big fish :)

I like juwel tanks yeah. Quality is really good. I currently have the rio 300 litre. Only things I don't like about juwels is the lid and lights are integrated and makes upgrading and replacement a bit difficult.

I'm also not 100% won over by the built in filters, works fine though. They can be removed and have the cuts on back for canister pipes so did that with my lido.

Yup, I was trying to make it feel spacious for them so I chose small ornaments and tall plants, and it seems to throw off the perspective a bit!

At the moment the goldies are only around 1 inch long (not including tails), but I'll have to sort out the tank upgrade once they hit the 2 inch mark. I wasn't really planning on having 4 of them in the current tank

Glad to hear Juwel is good!
