My new ebay betta!

I am so excited!! My betta from ebay came tonight. I had really bad luck ordering one this time around pushing my entire plan back a month because the first betta got lost by the post office right after it got dropped off to ship and the second one jumped out of its tank the night before the breeder was going to ship it. Luckily this guy arrived SO healthy and beautiful. I've ordered a few online before but this one came in the best condition. He's happily exploring the tank and flaring already, about an hour after acclimation. Hes quite small so im assuming hes pretty young still. Once he gets bigger I will buy a rimless 5 gal for him as an upgrade. For now, here he is and his tank I set up about 2 weeks ago (with a cycled filter). Ignore the air bubbles as I did a WC before adding him because the new driftwood was making this tank look blackwater. I have a tiger lotus arriving tomorrow to add in the back behind the root stump, and I left the middle roots free from plants which he has loved weaving through. I even built a mini cave for him inside the inner rocks below the main stump which he already found. He doesnt have a name yet so any ideas are welcome

Very pretty nemo galaxy. It’s very similar to the offspring of my recent spawn!

side note: he’s likely not to get any bigger but will either turn darker or develop more white specs or galaxy as he gets older. He’s likely a 7 month old fishy.

Thanks guys! I wouldn't mind if he stayed small honestly, he's so cute. He's extremely curious and this is my first plakat so im not used to having my bettas zip around like him. The seller labeled him as "blue candy galaxy koi" although I know they arent usually true with their naming, with what you think he is does that mean he has the marble gene?

His name is heoshibo located in Texas. And thank you very much! I wasnt completely happy with how the scape turned out but its got plenty of time to grow in. My buce and anubias are still recovering from the bleach dip and hopefully the lotus will add something that I feel is "missing"

Edit: he ate 2 pellets already! He's not very shy lol. I will probably feed him lightly over the next few days, im sure its because he was fasted before he shipped but I noticed there wasn't any poop in his bag and his tummy looked a little rounded.

Have you considered adding some swords? I think they could look really cool in the back of that tank! Also, this is a bit off topic, but how did the bleach dip process go for you? I have some plants coming in soon and I'm probably going to do a bleach dip for them since I can't find alum anywhere! Best of luck to you and your beautiful lil guy!

Yes, my local Walmart was out of stock I checked online too, and it said out of stock and it wasn't available to order. I'll probably try Target tomorrow and hope I have better luck there. Luckily I have a couple of grocery stores near me, so one of them is bound to have it!

In my experience swords didnt do well with pea gravel they fared better for me in deeper sand. This tank is only 11 inches tall with a slope built on it so a sword would grow too tall, I wanted something less densely planted this time so matinence was easy. As for the bleach dip, I did a 1:20 ratio with 6% bleach. Dipped the anubias and buce in for 120 seconds, rinsed well, and then soaked them in a dish with prime to detoxify. They seemed to hold in there pretty well with the exception of a few roots melted. For less hardy plants I wouldn't go for more than 80 seconds. As for the algae, it was hair algae and while its still attached to the leaves, its no longer green (its gray now) so I believe the bleach successfully killed it.

Yes he definitely does. He’s pretty much an adult fish now. He will slightly gain more white specs or Black spots. He won’t drastically change his pattern.

I wouldn't mind if his pattern changed a bit as long as he keeps those interesting nemo stripes on his analfin!

I was going to say that he looks a lot like my boy from philam.

He won’t. He’ll likely keep that pattern.

Omg yes! He’s so cool! He definitely more like the mother of the spawn. I’m glad to see some of the babies that I had raised is doing good. I’ll be trying to spawn another pair very soon and I’ll make sure to make a journal of it! Thanks for the update!

I noticed someone else mention one of their galaxy babies on another thread they bought from the same member and he was equally as beautiful!!

Edit: btw philam out of curiosity, is there anything other than finnage that determines the "show quality" of the nemo galaxy variety? I can't seem to find much on the internet about what would separate a high grade from a low grade in regards to coloring or pattern.
