My new 75G tank with DIY background + need some advice

Hello dear community,

some time ago I mentioned I needed advice for my filtration system as I bought a new tank. After a year, it is finally finished. Here are some pictures:

Previously, I had a smaller fish tank (10G) and I brought over my fish to my new.
I have:
- 1 Yoyo Loach
- 7 X-ray tetra
- 1 Hillstream loach

I am not sure what fish I can add to the tank. I am willing to add 5 additional x-rays, so they have a larger group. The Yoyo seems quite shy (and previously, quite aggressive) I read that they are best kept in groups as they are schoaling fish, but I do not have that many hiding spots for them. My current yoyo always hides here:

which is pretty sad... He almost never swims when ppl are watching the tank and I remember my cardinal tetra's being nipped in the fins by him (previous tank).

I hope you guys can give me some advice about the yoyo and what type of fish I can add. You can call me a beginner. I love shrimps but I read the yoyo will probably see them as snacks and I do not have that many plants in which they love (and need?). For new type of fish, please no guppies I like those more special fish or colorful fish!

Thanks already for all advice and info.

PS:
my watervalues:
- PH = 7.5 to 8
- GH = 9
- KH = 5
- Temp = 25 degrees celcius (78.8 Fahrenheit)

I have got shrimps (amano) and yo-yo's in one of my tanks they have been together for about 8 months now and no problems. But I have 3 yo-yo's. I believe that there needs to be 3 or more for them to be happy

It seems that amano shrimps are pretty 'big' so probably that is why. Thanks for info!

Thanks My first try and it worked out pretty well!

Your tank is gorgeous!!

I'd add two more yoyos and more X-ray tetras as you said. Beyond that, you have tons of options! For schooling fish, how about cherry barbs, millennium or boesemanI rainbowfish, or harlequin rasboras? A couple angelfish or a gold or blue gourami would be awesome as a centerpiece in there.
Thanks! X-rays are definitely going in. Yoyo's, I would love too but should I add some more hiding spots? Like make some more rocks that lay on the bottom so they can swim in and around them?
Cherry barbs look colorful! The rainbowfish too and the Anglefish looks big which will definitely be an eye-catcher. Thanks for these!

Still looking for like a special fish I always loved those KuhlI Loaches but I already have loaches...
Also found the sturisoma marble (don't know commercial name) very interesting or anything that looks like that. Those are probably rather difficult fish to keep, specifically in a community tank...

Styrofoam and cement. Was scared about the cement leaching bad chemicals into the water but it has been in the water for weeks now and I rinsed it very very well.

I would worry that whiptail catfish would be overwhelmed by your active yoyos. When you say "special fish", what exactly do you mean? The angelfish are definite eye-catchers. What about an electric blue acara as well? Or an interesting pleco?

With special fish, I mean like something that doesn't really look like a fish. The catfish doesn't look like an ordinary fish if you see what I mean. Pleco looks cool, less interested in the blue acara.

Nice fishtank!
Did you make the background by yourself? It's amazing!
I wanted to make one, but I gave up hope haha! It's that hard...

Good luck with finding the right fish!

Pleco's are indeed cool. The Leopard Frog Plecostomus interests me the most (also doesn't grow huge) To bad my fish seller doesn't have them

Neither does it have the Banjo Catfish... Maybe I'll find them with some other sellers.

Suggestions are still welcome!
