My New 100g Set Up.

toy4x

After some advice from members here, I was able to combine my 20 gallon and 30 gallon tanks together into a 100g.

I bought the tank, stand, and canopy off clist. I then had the tank polished, and I repainted the canopy and stand. Also, the stand was wide open underneath, so I added a divider and added shelves. The center door was too skinny to put in the fx6, so I had to cut out 2" on each side and make a new door. Think everything came out beautifully.

-6 discus
-2 angels
-12 neons
-4 rummynose
-1 albino bn pleco

First day = cloudy, what you get with sand substrate.

My baby wanted to pose for pics:

Second day, checked all ammonia /ph/nitrate/nitrite before adding my Discus from the 30g... Cloudiness almost completely gone.

Filtration pic: fx6, 306, 106, aquaclear30, and sponge filter.

Hopefully, I'll be able to take off filter by filter soon leaving me only the fx6 and 306. All these filters are complete overkill for a 100g, but needed the biological.

Will I be able to have only the fx6 and sponge filters running soon? Don't want all the 106/306/ and aq30 running. My goal was to take them off.

Beautiful tank!

I would leave the old filters on for at least a month or 2 to be safe.

You have some stocking issues if you'd like to discuss them

BottomDweller - Just wondering what stocking issues you are referring too? I'm always looking for advice.

I noticed the discus went after one of the small neons. Ate his tail.. Neon didn't make it... So I've lost 1 neon.

I would like to do 4 more discus, and get the school of rummynose upto 10. Possibly adding 6-10 sterbaI Cory's = finished.

Please let me know what you think or any issues you've noticed.

Please advice is welcome!

The BN pleco and neons need cooler water than the angels and discus.

Adult angels have been known to eat neons.

Didn't know about the bn pleco. I knew about the neons, but so many people add them with discus that it's almost the norm. I heard raising the temp lowers their life span.

My angel's haven't even paid attention to the neons. They've been with them for almost a year. The larger discus don't pay attention to them either, more of a curiosity. Only the 1 small discus has gone after the neons.

Any other advice don't hesitate to mention.
