My guppy has a white string from its bottom

My poor guppy has been acting weird for the past few days and today I saw that she had a white stingy thing coming from her bottom. It looks to be about 1 in. The others have been acting normal. Looks like this

20 NITRATE (doing water change tommorow)

10Gallon
30 Aquaclear
8Neons
4Guppys (1 male 3 female)
3 Ghost shrimp
1 Marino ball

 

White, stringy poop is usually a sign of internal parasites. Did you get all your fish from the same place and at the same time?

 

Yes I hope they would be ok all the guppie at my LPS and the 8 neons mixed stores

 

Did you quarantine any of them before adding into the main tank? You may need to treat for parasites. I'm not sure what the best treatment is for that but API makes a number of quality medications.

 

No I didn't quarantine any of them. Where can I get medication for parasites? Could it be that my nitrites are high and stressing her?

Your nitrites are zero and nitrates are not very high. If they were you would see different symptoms anyway. Antiparasite medications should be available at your LPS.

 

Oh OK I will try to find some. Poor fish :'(

 

ApI general cure. Drfostersmith. I had to buy it at pet supplies plus for twice the cost to start treating right away. Mine came from feeding my oscars feeder fish. I didn't know how bad that was until now. One of 4 died. Two are sick getting the general cure treatment now. It went from one fish to the next so fast. The only one who isn't sick is in quarantine now. I had to treat my whole 130 gallon aquarium. Same symptoms u got. Act quickly is all I can say.

 

Sadly when I got to the pet shop to get some salt, she has passed away Now I have learned how to look for parasites and treat them accordingly. Thanks for your help
