My goldfish has a bulge on his left side

Lately my goldfish has been laying at the bottom of the tank and his left side is bigger than his right. All this time I thought he was laying at the bottom because he was depressed, and yesterday I got two new fish because I had two others that died. But the goldfish was at the bottom still, but he was swimming around more last night. I thought he look depressed because he was alone.

But I think I accidentally overfed him or something he looks bigger when I first got my fish and his left side has a lump. What does it mean when a goldfish has a lump on their side? Is it a serious condition, is he sick, is he dying?

And I think I saw a white spot on his left side but I'll have to look again to make sure. But I heard that white spots are known as ich. If my goldfish has ich does anyone know how to get rid of it? I'm so worried about my goldfish I don't want to lose him. And when I get back home I'm gonna do a water change but my goldfish is swimming more often but I don't think that means he's fully ok. Please help I want him to live.

HI there. Sorry I can't give much insight into the illness but feeding a deshelled frozen pea can help if it is a minor swim bladder problem caused by overfeeding etc. But don't just listen to me. Others may be able to provide a better treatment for you but peas always help!

And also the tank probably isn't cycled and that is why your other gold fish died. Look up 'Fish tank nitrogen cycle' as well

Welcome to Fishlore! We need a bit more info.

Can you attach a pic?

What size tank and what fish do you have in there?

Water parameters (pH, temp, ammonia, nitrites, nitrates)?

When did this show up?

It's a 10 gallon tank and I have a goldfish and two mollies. My goldfish started laying at the bottom like 2 weeks ago.

How do you post a picture?

I'm afraid your tank is terribly overstocked. Your fish are probably suffering from ammonia poisoning among other things. Do you have any water tests? If not, take a sample to your LPS and ask them to test it for you. You'll want ammonia, nitrite and nitrate tests at the very least and be sure to ask for exact numbers for the results. If that is where you got the fish ask if you can bring them back because both species produce a lot of waste and neither will fit in a 10 gallon tank. Plus goldfish are cold water fish while mollies are tropical.

K now the one of the two fish I got yesterday is dead and I don't know why. I've had my tank since January and my goldfish and mollies have had no problems for three months

I'm actually surprised that any of them are still alive. Goldfish and mollies are both heavy waste producers and need much bigger tanks. The mollies alone require a minimum of 29 gallons IIRC and your goldfish needs the same but in a separate tank.

Until you can get them new tanks or new homes I highly recommend doing large daily water changes to get the toxins down. I will also recommend getting a test kit. I use the API Master Test Kit.
