My Ghost Shrimp Isn’t White!

so I’m new to this site but I have had my aquarium since June. The tank has always been filled with Rosy red minnows (5 total: 4 females 1 male. 2 are not fully adults yet) as well as 3 ghost shrimp. The tank size is a standard 10 gallon rectangle. I noticed just today that one of my ghost shrimp isn’t transparent. I know they molt and aren’t completely transparent during that stage but the shrimp is an offish color. Rather be safe than sorry, I put it in a one gallon that has gravel and one moss ball (a quarantine and I put in the moss ball so he can kinda hide).

He wasn’t sluggish when I tried to catch him, he still moved as fast as ghost shrimp usually react, and it’s not a complete adult (only judging by size). I’ve had them for at least a month (can’t remember exactly). I’m just concerned if I’m overreacting to the color or not.

Do you know what species they are? (ghost shrimp AKA glass shrimp can be various species).
Something could be off or it may just be a normal color variation for whatever species it is, but I think you'd need to find out the actual species to know if that might be the case. Not really sure sorry.

I know mine change color when they eat. They turn the color of the food. Like when I feed them bloodworms...I can see the bloodworm. Your shrimp look a brownish tan color in the picture. Is that right or is it lighting? I'd keep him separate for now and watch him. But usually are clear. Mine breed like crazy. Always taking them and snails to my local pet store.

I have one like that. Do you think it is about to molt?

maybe. I was looking for an answer on the internet. None of mine have done that yet. But new to ghost shrimp. I bought them for my puffer but he passed on before they became dinner. I know sad. But now they are something interesting for my tank. I would keep him by himself for a little bit and watch him. Let me know how it goes so I'll know what to do if it happens to mine.

Unfortunately, my little ghost shrimp did die. I had to go home for the weekend (I am in a college dorm). He had more than enough food on the moss ball to have lasted him if anything, so I figure he's was just sick since ghost shrimp are usually hardy little creatures in that aspect (at least in my minor experience). I currently have two still that show no color changes like my dead one so I think I caught him before it could spread (if it's a disease). I plan on getting more the next time I'm near a pet store that actually sells them.
