my fish has a broken side fin :(

I just noticed 2 of my platy's has a broken fin . I'm not sure what's the name of the fin but its at the side of their body and its just sticking out and not moving it at all. Usually our fish would be moving their side fins around but one of her fins is just sticking out as if its broken Is there any way I could help my fish?

 

Hello sorry to hear about your fish it could be that they have just got caught somewhere in the tank and it's sore and a little sore Malcolm does that sometimes he likes squeezing into spaces that he shouldn't fit although have plugged them all up now. Have you got some apI stress coat or something similar? If so put some of that in and if it is the apI the aloe Vera will help to ease him/her. Hope it works out ok they're tough little fish so it should be

 

hmm those things are pretty expensive here I actually went to the pet shop today to look for some air pumps (which I did buy) and I saw some apI things but they were pretty pricey here and I only noticed their fins when I got home from the pet shop today won't be awhile till I go back to the shop Anything else I could do to help my fish?

 

As long as their water is nice and clean and the filter current isn't blowing them about and of course they are still eating then they should be ok. Can you see any new marks on there bodies or is it just one fin staying still?
