My first guppy babies batch!

And I turned on the tank light a bit early this morning, and the very first thing I saw was a fry go zipping across my line of view! I netted out 6 and put them in the breeding net with the other crew, and I've seen at least 3 more still in the tank. I'm leaving some in since this was a bigger drop, as a little experiment in comparison- see if any survive in the tank, see who grows faster, etc. Or my adults will have a few snacks, which they may have done already lol.

I hope you've got a big tank lol I once saw a 3-foot long pleco 0.0

naw these are Super Red BN's only get abt 4" max sometimes 5 the mother and father both are like 4 and 4 1/2

Well, that's reasonable then lol I like the BNs, I just think they're cute. I have a slightly odd idea of cute lol

lol yea of the Bristleys the max length is around 5" for that sub type of pleco then even a hair smaller are the spotted marbles and the clowns they are still abt the same size as the BN's the smallest 3 of the pleco family

I'm just afraid I'd end up with a mislabeled pleco and have something that gets quite big. My largest tank is a 20 gallon long, so I don't want to accidentally end up with a fish that'll be as long as my whole tank!

just ask someone on here that breeds them you will getr a good healthy fish plus will have no problems knowing what size they will get

I kinda have to conserve my tank space- I have 10 guppies in 2 tanks, and at least 15 fry after only 2 of my 7 females dropped, and I'm trying to gently push for a separate tank to display only males, but my mom isn't exactly into the idea.

And I somehow talked my mom into a final tank on the condition that I don't buy anything on credit, only what I actually have cash in hand (or bank account! ) for! So time to clean the 55 gallon that's been sitting in my basement! This'll take me a few months to set up, but as my eldest fry are 4 days old......

So today I woke up to my first fry since my colmnaris outbreak! The one female that survived the whole fiasco had given birth on December 13th (she's due again soon), and honestly, no one else was surviving long enough to drop fry. So I was actually pretty surprised when I woke up to find fry in my tank! I've netted out 9 so far, there's a 10th that's foiling my attempts by hiding behind the heater, and I'm not 100% sure that 1. Mom guppy (Big Blue) is finished and 2. There aren't more hiding that I've missed.

Good news! The girl may drop them all in one day or spread them out over a couple of days, it really kind of depends on her. I would leave a couple in the tank to find out if your other fish will eat them or not.

If they don't, it is just extra work to remove them all and put them all back later.

It actually was not Big Blue, incredibly it was Little Blue who wasn't even chubby 0_o but I'm pretty sure there's some cannibalism here, since I actually watched her pop one out and Lotus (pale blue tail) swept in and ate it right up. Oops.
I netted out a grand total of 12, which makes up for the fact that my prefilter sponge slipped a bit and I lost 2 of my older fry to the filter intake
You don't really realize how much fry have grown until you see them next to newborns. My 3 week olds look HUGE now!

And Little Blue is still sitting there with her fins all clamped, looking miserable. Did the birth take too much out of her? She DID pop out at least 13 fry (I saw one get eaten, so I assume some others did too) without even looking pregnant. Or should I be worried about this tank being cursed?

Found 4 more fry this morning. Weather they're from yesterday's drop and I missed them because they were hiding, or this is a different drop, your guess is as good as mine. If more begin appearing in the tank throughout the day, I'm going to assume it's a whole new crew.

There's definitely a new crew coming out. After netting 9 babies out, I finally caught mom in the act lol we're currently up to 10 and she doesn't look even half done.

Good going, ladies, picking the big cold snap as a time to give birth 0_o good thing they have a nice 78 degree tank, as opposed to my 60 degree house....

So nice to start the morning with good news--I always love hearing about new fry! Hmm, sometimes I think the Endler's rush over to the side of the tank not looking for food but because they're laughing at my wearing a down jacket around the house when they're so toasty in their tanks. Older Southern California houses were not built to hold in heat :b

We're up to 28... if she had this many in her, I can only imagine what Battle is going to do- she's twice as big!

Finished with 29.
I'm glad I chose a 10 gallom for a fry tank, even with 10 3 week olds and 12 born yesterday, it doesn't even look mildly crowded in there!

Congrats. New fry are always fun. Let us know once your able to sex them. It takes me about 5 1/2 weeks until I am really sure.
