Are you sure this is your first 29g? I would probably enter in a scape contest if I were you, you have a gift
The only other first tanks I’ve had has been a 75gal piranha tank that I had 6 in and all it had was slate rocks almost like a Cichlid tank would have, and a 10gal tank with just artificial plants in it. This is my first planted tank, first 29 tank, and first tank I “scaped”. Edit- I did do ALOT of research before I started though , a lot of YouTube videos lol

Ok so another week has almost past since I added my blue ram , getting closer to being fully stocked. I’m most likely going to add around 6 bottom feeder fish and wanted recommendations, Current water temp is 80’ F and PH is stable at 7.6

I love your tank! I think you can keep kuhlI loaches at 80 but hopefully someone else will chime in with experience. I never kept them but from reading I always had a mental note that they like warmer water than corys do. Can't wait to see how this progresses!

Yeah KuhlI loaches were a possibility but no LFS carries them and from my understanding they’re prone to getting sick just because the way they are shipped

Been awhile since I last posted anything but I added 6 albino c.aeneus Monday and they are a happy addition to the cleanliness of the bottom , I am feeding a mixture of floating and sinking food so they are not “just” eating leftovers.

Unfortunately algae is becoming a problem, it started when I vacuumed the substrate which stirred up a lot of funk which I’m thinking is the reason for the algae, plus I think my amanos are getting lazy , they go crazy when they get their hands on flake food.

Assassin snail is also doing his job , beginning to see a lot of snail shells on substrate , which also could be the reason for the algae haha

The octopus and lily are doing really well, I need to get my hands on some scissors to trim it down. I can’t seem to keep my banana plant rooted or else I think it might do better as far as growth. The crypts are just kind of meh right now, think when I trim my plants I’ll try some substrate ferts and see it helps them. The java fern windelov isn’t really growing and the java fern on the wood has new growth at the rishome but it looks like it’s growing new leaves at the end of the larger leaves which is weird.

Lastly the white sand is no longer white.... I kind of new this was gonna happen but will try and separate it when I do my trimming :/
