My Endler's (hybrid Or Pure?) First Post :)

Hey guys and girls, my very first post here on the forum, came across it after searching for information about endlers, seems you lot have everything just about covered over here at fishlore

Bought a male and a female endler at my LFS about a month back, was admiring my fish as you do and noticed that I have about 10 new addition's to my tank, turns out my endler has had babies! this has now started a new admiration for endlers, went out and bought a new 20 gallon tank just for endlers and moved the parents into it, I'm waiting for the fry to age a little because I don't want to kill them by moving them as they are only about 4 days old.

anyway more to the point, was really just wondering if I have pure endlers or just hybrid's as I'm hoping I could maybe breed them for store credit at my LFS. ive attached a video to this post as I couldn't get a picture of the little bugger sat still haha.

Thanks in advance guys, really appreciate it.

Welcome to fishlore!

Almost definitely got some guppy in them, especially the female, but you could probably still sell them as endlers.

Welcome to fishlore!

Most endlers have some guppy in them, it's very rare to find pure endlers.
I think the female has some guppy in her, but it *looks* like the male might actually be pure endler!

As a side note, did you cycle the filter when you set up the 20g? (Or use old filter media, Quick start, etc?)

And a second side note, it's usually best to keep livebearers in at least a 2:1 f:m ratio, just because the males will harass the females constantly. Not "necessary" to do this, but highly recommend

Enjoy your new fry!

I have a tank that I originally had my endlers in but I decided to buy another tank purely just for endlers, I used old filter media to cycle my tank and used my master test kit to make sure everything was good, ive also bought 1 more male and 4 females so they are now at a 2:1 f/m ratio

thanks for the warm welcome

It looks like they're hybrids. Enduser's usually have such vivid, bold, and beautiful color. These guys look a little dull. If you want pure Endler's, and are near New Jersey, try Ely's fish.

No, you should not sell them as Endler's. If they are uncertain, call them hybrids.

Looks more like a wild type guppy than a hybrid endler

Just had a quick google search for wild type guppies and I see what you mean they do look very similar, very interesting

A picture from the side would give a better look. But what I can see from the vid the male might be a hybrid. For sure, no pure endler.
