My (divided) betta tank is now full...

Well, I bought one more betta today, a female. I figure, I lost two fish over break, I can allow myself to go up to six fish total. And she was SO pretty. My mother is going to kill me (they don't know about the guppies... but those are "my Christmas gift from Buster" so I think I can stay out of trouble there). Anyways, introducing Trey!

Trey is a 1.5" long female betta. She appears white thus far, with just enough sheen of pink, green, and blue that I'm wondering what color she will end up. hopefully lots of blue... though I almost bought a plain red girl instead. I'll post pics later once she's acclimated to her QT jar.

Here's Trey! Its not the best picture, but the lighting is horrible no matter what angle I'm at.

Oh she is such a darling!! I am so curious too as are Alex, Blaze and JT. They can see over my shoulder at the pictures and always get so excited when they see a new betta so please do let us see pictures of her as she changes. I love the colors you mentioned. Is she going into a divided tank you say? But a quarantine jar for now? You must love your bettas to have so many...a person after my heart. Good luck with her and please PICTURES... ;D

Welcome to you little Trey... I love your name!

Yes Trey will be in my divided betta tank. It is set up for five at a time; filtered and with regular water changes; and I rotate one out at a time to keep me company at my desk. At the moment, though, I still have Duece in a jar, and Trey in a different jar. I hope they are both healthy, but in case they aren't, I don't want them to get any of my others sick.

Here's a different picture of her. In normal light she isn't that pink, the camera picks up her colors rather than the white. Also, you can see that her jar is on my desk... those are my sticky notes and such in the back.

Aw, she's so cute! She looks a lot like my female Angel did when I first got her. Angel developed a lot of turquoise blue on her fins and marbled patterns on her body. I have before and after pics of her on another thread. Take lots of pics of her. You will see her change a LOT over the coming weeks. Trey has an interesting tail too. It looks like a spade tail.

Trey looks like my Misty did when I first got her. She does not have fully developed scales yet and they will not have their full color until they develop more. you may have a surprise and have a different colored fish entirely. The pink coloration you are seeing is the blood in her body showing through her hide as it is not covered by opaque scales but by baby translucent ones.

Keep us informed of the colors she changes, and I hope she turns into a betta that you are surprised by although she is lovely just as she is and I too love the tail shape. She also has a sweet face.

I love how her black eyes stand out in that pretty white face. And yeah, I like her tail shaped like a spade, too. And she's irradescent, so as she swims around and up her tank, she changes from yellow to purple, all the way through green and blue. Its amazing and beautiful.
