Wow! looks gorgeous! This is like my dream tank. I just discovered golden rams, they're so beautiful.

Re: top pic, next time get rid of the disposable tooth pick.

Really awesome tank! I have a 55 gallon. Medium planted (if that's a thing). I have some crypts that have just really taken off. Their leaves are up to the top and curling over. I may have to prune them soon but I just would hate to trim them back since they are thriving.

No issues with the cherry shrimp and the rams? I have 2 rams and 1 krib in my tank and I would love to have some shrimp but I fear for their lives.

actually my rams dont bother my shrimp at all i actually started with 2 shrimp now i have at least 5 lol and i use the toothpicks to clean my filter inlets lol but il remove it next time. if u trim ur crypts they will actually come back better with more leafs and runners so dont be afraid. my tank is mainly a ram and discus tank so i love my goldies lol and theyre a pair so im pretty hyped. thanks for all the comments i appreciate them and love hearing about other ppls tanks.

That is an absolutely beautiful tank. Exactly what we all aspire to, I'm sure a lot of work went into it.

I'm curious about the lights, ferts, and other tech in the tank. It's always nice to see what is working for other people. Perhaps you could add this tank to your profile. You should also enter it into the tank of the month contest if you haven't already.

How come you don't go near the plants and how established is the tank mate? Do you plan on stocking anything else? Are you using a carbon system ? And any ferts, or rooting tabs etc? Love the tank

bc the plants will eat/use the excess food so theres no reason to go near them. i never use carbon in any of my planted tanks and the only fert i use is the dirt theres no need for any root tabs or ferts and this tank has been set up for over 2 years now and im happy with the fish i have i might add another German blue ram female so i have another breeding pair.

It sounds like you're talking about the Walstad method. That can be tricky, but I'm glad it's working for you.

Glad to see such a beautiful dirted tank. I've been researching and planning mine for a while and am just now getting it off the ground. It is a lowly 10 gallon due to space, but I'm using it more as a learning tank for the eventual bigger tanks. Thanks for the inspiration!

This is better than a cichlid tank! How long did it take you to grow the plants and get the fish. This is pure stuff. Nice job
