My danio is acting diffrent then the others

Hi,
I just added 3 zebra danios to my 40 gallon tank. The first fish in there, I added them this morning. Two of the fish are swimming around and having a good time. The third one is just staying in one place by the top of the tank. He is moving a little bit but is not swimming around. I have checked my ammonia and it is inbetween ideal and stress. All my other readings are great. I am worried that he is unhealthy. What should I do, should I just see how he does through the night?
Thank you
Jessica

I just wanted to add that I just turned off the light and he started to swim around. So now I am really confused. Has anybodys danios not liked light?

They had been on for 3 hours or so.

wierd... it could be that it's stressed out from the cycle cuz you said that you have ammonia in your tank. but then that has nothing to do w/ the lights. but I do know that darker places are a good stress-reducing method. sorry if i'm not much help.

No thanks for the help. I was thinking the amonia, but it did go up and now it is dropping. Just like the pet store people said. One thing I noticed is the one who is acting diffrent is smaller and more shy. When I go to the tank the 2 come to the front and the other one stays hidden. I think he may just be shy, once I add more danios, maybe he will perk up.

Well I added 3 more danios today. 5 of them are getting along great, but the one who was having problems is still not doing that great. He stays on the bottom of the tank. I am not sure what to do.

I am sad to say that the poor little guy did not make it. The other 5 are doing great though.

Sorry to hear that. I'm afraid that one of mine is soon to suffer the same fate as it is not schooling with the other 4. It doesn't seem to have any troubles swimming, but is not keeping with the group. When the other four (or a splinter group of maybe 2) swim by and try to engage it in play it swims away until the others give up and leave it be again.
