Well I managed to sneak up on my new Daffodil just before the lights went out & he thought he was safe. I'm still trying to find what settings work best with this camera so I'm sorry for the poor pic quality.

Thanks for sharing the pic, never seen one or heard of one before. What family are they part of? Any cool info on them you could share?

Very nice Nutter.

You've got some nice stock recently ... to include your rainbows.

Photos are fine. Really nice Neolamprologus Brichardi "Daffodil". Do they breed in shells or caves?

Thank you everybody. The photos really don't do the fish justice though. There's more yellow than in the pics & you can't see the electric blue lines around the head or along the fins edges very well.

FredBenjamin it's a Daffodil Cichlid (Neolamprologus Pulcher) from Lake Tanganyika. Here's one of the better profiles on them for you:

Some people believe they are actually Neolamprologus Brichardi but for the time being at least they are treated as two seperate species. The most interesting thing about them is that they practice multi generational brood care. So older fry will help the parents look after the younger fry. The whole family gets in on the defense & care of the youngsters which makes them a fish not to be messed with if allowed to breed. Safety in numbers.

Butterfly I believe they are substrate spawners but spawning usually takes place in a cave or in a shell. Pretty similar to Julidochromis I think. I'm not going to be breeding them so I have only glanced over the breeding information so far. I'm still trying to learn as much as I can about the other fish I'm planning on getting (not breeding them either) so I'll read up on the breeding habits of them all at a later time.

They are such pretty fish but sadly I don't have a place to put another tank LOL
I thought they were the same species also
Maybe the fish experts will figure it out and get back to us

Nice, I have a proven pair of daffodils and you're right about the way they spawn. I've gotten a few spawns out of mine and they always chose a cave for spawning. We never even caught them in the act, just realized it when we saw the free swimmers.

Yep that's them. Mine actually has better colours than the one in that pic but I just can't get them to show up in my pics. Maybe I should read the instruction manual for the new camera.
