My Crowntail fins are in shreds! Is it possible for him to heal?

First of all, this must be tail tearing/rot/biting day! I think this is the fourth fin injury post today.

Mr. Bubbles is in a Fluval EVO five gallon. (I chose EVO because we of the higher quality light than the Spec V, otherwise it is identical to the Spec). The plants are silk. The artificial wood thing is deceptively smooth.

On Friday, his fins were perfect. (He is supposedly a Crowntail and has always had very feathery fins. They have never had that perfect Crowntail look.)

Saturday (yesterday), I noticed that his fins -- all of them -- are shredded. He has one tear in his rear fin that is complete, from body to end of tail. All other fins have holes and tears. I am pretty sure the injury was from a silk bamboo-ish looking decoration that had exposed branch ends (a Fluval plant). I've taken it out. Of course, it was his favorite place to hide.

But I do have a different question than the others that have been posted: with the extent of his injuries, will he heal? Are daily water changes going to be adequate to heal him?

He seems to be having a difficult time swimming. Used to be able to hold himself almost vertical to grab his food. Now he is having a difficult time doing that. (I'm using a floating drinking straw square "raft" to hold his food in place.)

Parameters per API master kit
pH: stable at 8.2 (high pH test)
Ammonia, Nitrites, and Nitrates: 0

Also, he has a habit of snuggling up at the pump intake area. I don't think that is the source of the tearing, but I could be wrong.

Hope the photos are adequate. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

(Pump is on I low, and I've modified the system to lessen flow.)

I've checked the rest of the decorations, and there aren't any snagged items left. (The rocky/wood thing is deceptively smooth

PS These pics were FINE when I posted via the Forum app on my iPad.

PPS -- He has barely moved from that spot by the filter intake for a couple of hours. Even when I turned off the filter, to determine whether or not he was being sucked into it, he didn't move. I think he likes it because it is warm, as it is close to the heater.

I'm worried that he is really not going to make it. He hasn't gone down to the bottom of the tank once this afternoon, and usually, he has a little circuit he makes around the tank between lazy times on the red plant.

He should heal unless it turns bacterial. You can do every other day water changes of 50%.

Thanks. I did a 30% today. He is already doing a LOT better! He has been swimming the around the whole tank, hiding, darting, resting, and eating. He's also been responsive to my face, and to my finger near the glass. I bet he was just really stressed yesterday. I also got rid of that wretched plant, and bought a very soft silk plant. I ran my fingers over the entire thing to check for barbs, hooks, and other things that might snag him.

I also have antibac on hand, just in case.
