My blushing angelfish has something....

My blushing angelfish has something in its anal area. It's like a round bump and the poo comes out on the right side of the body. It looks disgusting to look at. But the fish acts like he/she is fine. I have 3 pictures. I started noticing it last week and the bump keeps getting bigger. I wonder if it's a tumor?

HI Candie
It's kind of hard to tell from the pictures but it looks like it might be a prolapsed uterus.

Sometimes they retract, sometimes they don't.
I'm sorry I don't have any advice other than keeping the water clean and make sure no one picks on her.

Here's a picture of a BP with a prolapse.:

Until other see this and post, you might want to do some research doing a forum search.

Good luck.

Do you think it's painful? Will it kill her? Don't worry about her getting picked on, I only have neon tetras and panda corydoras in this tank. Thanks for the info though.

Edit: in the third picture you can see a dark spot where the bump is.... That's her poo!

Candie!!! Well every disease is painful and can result to death if not taken care on time.

Well I Guess it is some sort of parasite. I would recommend you to feed her live food & keep on 30% water changing! Also you can add 1 single capsule of Terramycin 500 mg if your tank is 30 gallon. The bigger tank you have the more quantity of capsule , you will need to add. This should fix it.

However, does she only swims at top? Is she shy and sits in the corner? Does she eats properly or does she eats less these days?

Thanks a lot. So it's not prolapsed uterus?

She's not shy at all. The tank is in my room so she likes to watch my every move. Whenever I get up in the morning I see her swimming all over waiting for me to feed her. She swims everyhere in the tank, she's very gentle and very still. My tank is actually 20 gallons. Can I feed her freeze dried? I don't know about feeding live food as I heard it's not good in the tank/fish or something like that.

Here's another picture. you can just zoom in to get a better look.

I'm moving this thread to the disease section.
Hopefully you'll get more responses there.

Edit:
Looking at some pictures here. (Manual of Fish Health, By Dr. Chris Andrews, Adrian Exell and Dr. Neville Carrington)
It may very well be a condition caused by myxozoan parasites that infect the kidney tubules.
I'm not trying to sound smarter than I am about diseases because I am not an expert.
Just looking at pictures and giving you something to research.

Thanks a lot for the info. I'll research about it. I just realized that there's 2 holes on both the left and right side and that's where the poo comes out on either side. You could see through the other side. Here's more pictures, I'm able to get clearer shots.
