A friend noticed that his black neon tetras that he just recently purchased have tiny white spots covering their fins. He said he noticed that they spread onto one of his older fish. I'm wondering if this is Ich and if it is, how should he go about treating it? There as six black neon's infected and one more plus two guppies and a shrimp that arent. They live in a 20 gal.

Hard to tell without seeing pictures. Are the white dots raised off the skin/scales of the fish? They'll look like small white bumps.

It does sound like ich. One common way to treat this is to slowly raise the temp to 86 f. This will make the life cycle of ich faster, which will make the ich die. Take a picture?

I will add one later, I do not have one right now. They look like white dots on their fins. How much should he raise it each day?

1-2 degrees per hour is a pretty safe rate.
