My Betta's Tail Is Turning Clear!

I've had my betta, Tritan, for about 2 weeks. When I first got him, he tore his tail a couple times (not positive how). For some reason, he loves to wriggle his body through really tight spaces, like between the stones on the bottom of his tank, and I suspect this is how he cut his tail. He doesn't seem to be itching or sick, I think this is just how he plays.
Anyways, shortly after his tail cuts healed, I noticed his tail starting to turn clear. I had given him a few doses of "betta fix" to help with his cuts. This doesn't look like fin rot as his tail/fins aren't ragged.
I have attached photos of his normal tail, his tail cut, and his current tail which is turning transparent.
Has anyone seen this before and know what it might be?

It looks like your betta is in a vase or jar. Does the tank have a filter on it? What are your water parameters? Your fish might be stressed if there isn't anything sharp in the tank, his fins keep ripping and said fins are turning clear (I don't see that in the pictures though. maybe it's just me)

Tank size? Parameters (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, pH etc.)?

Also, do you have a heater? They can go sluggish when it's too cold.

I would advise against bettafix, melafix and pimafix as they will damage your bettas' labyrinth organ (lung).

What are you feeding him? Try a food that contains color enhancers. Make sure it's a high protein meat based food though. Frozen brine shrimp may bring out color too. He looks pretty healthy to me.

My betta has gotten those tiny holes in his fins that have turned into tears. They have always healed up quickly.

Usually bettas are sold as somewhat juveniles and their tails haven't finished growing. New growth will appear white or clear until it develops color. I would provide a better environment for him. At least a 3 gallon betta tank with filtration and a heater.

He is in a 2 gallon vase with a heater, but no filter just yet. I haven't received mu water testing kit yet.

I will forgo any medication for now and see how he does.

He is very picky about his food. Pellets are too hard for him, and he doesn't seem crazy about freeze dried blood worms.
He eats NatGeo fish flakes, but he doesn't eat a lot compared to other fish his size (3-4 flakes a day). I'll try the brine shrimp, maybe he will like those. Thanks!

Bettas are gentle feeders anyway. The never gulp their food like some fish. My betta is in a community tank, but there is glb of plant roots where I put his food that the angelfish can't get too.

Never met a betta that can resist frozen food. One of my females if picky about frozen brine shrimp but she absolutely loves frozen bloodworms. Plus, frozen foods are generally better for your betta; less likely to cause bloat and have less plant based fillers in them

A bigger tank with filtration, heat, and lots of hiding places will be great for this beauty. However, clear finnage after fin rot is completely normal. Fins usually grow back in a transparent color.

Mine is certainly not gentle. He attacks his pellets as soon as they hit the water and gulps them down. He does the same with live fruit flies.

How do you get live fruit flies in the water?

Same way you get any food in. Just drop them in. PetSmart sells them in plastic tubes and they will repopulate the tube for a while but not forever. They have no wings so can't fly. They can jump though.

I should have said flightless fruit flies. Bettas LOVE them.

Thanks for the tip. There's a Petsmart close by. I never knew they had live wingless fruit flies. Nice treat for fish.
