I'm also the lady that makes holiday theme tanks for my betta.
So I do plan to bury him in a flower pot and I am welcoming any suggestions and advice from you all.
Excuse me for this, but right now he is in my freezer until then.
So his health issue has happened for 3 weeks. Kory has been at first on the surface alot and not really hiding in his cave or on the ground much. You just know something is not right. I started this hobby and adopted him on September 30th of 2018 and he was the light of my life and like a son.
He loved everyone that goes up to him and that's what drew me to buy him when I held his cup up to my face and he had a curious wonder and faced me the entire time instead of getting scared and staying to the bottom of the cup.
Our bond grew from that moment.
His pectoral fins are the cutest to adore.
He knew when feeding time was, he knew when the time to adore Kory staring contest was and with an even more great intelligence would flare at 5 pm every day basically to let me know it's time to turn off his light and settle in for the evening to come.
The best moment I had with him was when he made his first bubble nest. It took a long while which kind of worried me at first for him to get his groove on and start, but when he finally did I had to take a video of it.
Since he is gone it makes me wish I mated him with another betta so at least he had offsprings.
After a loss, you're always lost in thought of what you could have done to prevent death from happening.
On his birthday on September. I got him dried up blood worms from petsmart and they weren't expired or anything, but I was careless and didn't even properly read the instructions in the back like I should have and fed him a blood worm instead of cutting it and letting it soak in water first.
He swallowed it whole and I do strongly believe that he had constipation because he also wasn't doing "His business."
I didn't bother to ask anything on here or take pics because I was feeling bad.
Why I believe it was constipation from the bloodworm is because he was perfectly fine before I fed him it.
You just know.
I did water changes. The water was normal to begin with so that was not the issue. I tried the pea method, he just absolutely would not eat it, but his dried up food only, but I laid off feeding him until I noticed a good change.
I also transitioned him from his 5 gallon tank to a 10 gallon that he wasn't even able to enjoy for less than a month.
My hopeful future plans with him were to turn his tank into a live plant natural environment for him.
He had a favorite fake plant which I bought when I also purchased him and it's been his chill spot on the corner of the tanks since.
He loves his betta log that at first, he was not enjoying floating about randomly on his tank and that he avoided, but I really wanted him to enjoy it so I rigged it/anchored it tying a twist tie from the hole on the log to the lighting cord for it to stay in one place and since then he felt much more secure.
I am able to dream of things if I think so hard into it and I had a dream of Kory before I woke to his departure from earth.
It was somewhat of a side view of his tank that I was seeing. He was just swimming around normally and his fins looked beautiful and more elegant than reality.
Goodbye baby boy. Swim in peace. Thank you for showing me that wherever you are you are swimming in peace and letting mama know.
