My betta is a hermaphrodite?

I really can't tell whether my betta is a male or a female. It has no egg spot, really long pectoral fins, got excited when introduced to a female fish, showed breeding stripes when introduced to a male fish and has blown a bubble nest? It also flares at my female but not my male. It was sold as a female. I'm not quite sure what to think.

 

I'd say less of a hermaphrodite, and moreso the doctor telling you at the ultrasound that you're expecting a girl, then giving birth and finding out it's a boy.

What I'm trying to say is your Betta was probably mislabeled.

But! I must tell you, I'm convinced homosexuality can occur in fish. I have a definitively male betta that only blows bubble nests and dances under them for other males next door. I have tried to breed him several times with over 7 different conditioned females and he takes his nests away and is extremely aggressive towards all of them, he likes boys!

 

They truly have different personalities. I'm agreeing with what Falena said lol. He's a beautiful young betta.
