My Betta fish LOVES peas

No idea why he loves them so much. I feed him freeze dried shrimp, flakes, and floating pellets but he's always constipated after eating them. So, I decided to feed him peas, and he is crazy about eating them. He even chases my hand if I have peas in it (something he never does for the other types of food). Honestly, I may just continue to feed him a heavily pea based diet (with the occasional flakes and brine shrimp).

Peas are not good for Bettas as a constant diet even though he loves them. Bettas are carnivores and need proteins. Maybe try skipping the dry shrimp for frozen brine shrimp and bloodworms. It sounds like he is getting too much food or too much dry food. Do you soak them before feeding if he is getting constipated?

yeah I put them in the water and squeeze all the air out before he eats the freeze dried shrimp. My problem with the live food is that it's too expensive (especially since I don't have a job yet and I have to use my parents money). Is there anything else I could try (since he clearly doesn't like the food I give him lol).

A package of frozen brine shrimp or bloodworms are like 3-4 dollars. Its not live food. You would only need a small corner to feed one betta so it would last a long time for you.

Also if your mom has garlic in a jar you could soak his food in Garlic juice to see if he will eat it.
