5 Gallon Tank My betta fish has puffy white scales

I got my betta fish, Tsunami, about 4 months ago. When I first got him, he had fin rot which I treated with Imagitarium Bacterial Infection Remedy which seemed to have worked as his fins are growing back now. Recently, (about 2-3 weeks ago) I noticed that Tsunami had popeye. Only one of his eyes was swollen. I treated him with the same medication and the swelling went away. However, I noticed that some of his scales were still a little bit discolored and were slightly white. The scales seem to, for lack of a better word, puff out. I have noticed him rub himself against the little nerite snail he shares his tank with, which makes me think the scales could be itchy. I’ve attached a photo where hopefully everyone can see the discolored scales on his head. I would love to know what is wrong with him and how I could help him. This condition has been around for a while and it doesn’t seem to be bothering him too too much but I’m afraid it could worsen. Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated!

I do water changes usually twice a month and change 50-75% of the water. I also noticed that his stomach is a bit bloated up recently.

Are his scales sticking out/pineconing? It sound like dropsey but I cant say from the picture alone. look at him from the top and compare to pictures of dropsy, it sounds like they poor fish has been through a lot. I hope we can help you help him!

I can't see too well from the photo, but it sounds like he might have a fungal infection. It looks like the top of his head is a bit fuzzy, and the rubbing is a common symptom of fungal infections. I would recommend separating him from any other tankmates and setting up a hospital tank with aquarium salt. Also, try lowering the water temp to around 75-77°F. I hope he gets better!!

Thanks for all the advice!
i really don’t think it’s dropsy because I’ve had fish with it before and he doesn’t have the pineconing scales. I’ve kept treating him for a fungal infection and I’m hoping this will help. His water temperature is already around 75-77F. Thanks again for the advice and kind words
