55 Gallon Tank My Bamboo Shrimo Experience

Got my two bamboo shrimp about three months ago and sadly one died but I think it had a parasite since he was less active and hid more but the larger Bamboo shrimp is doing great. It’s constantly either picking food off the sand or perched infront of my canister filter. He had a stretch of only eating off the sand which started to worry me after a while so I ended up moving the filter output to blow lower into his plant so he can feel more hidden and have more places to perch and he moved back to filter feeding. Definitely one of my favorite things to keep now because of their weird looks, unique filter feeding, or how they can grow algae all on their shells before molting.

I love bamboo shrimp. I’m just starting my shrimp journey in one of my ten gallons with some neos. Would love some bamboos in the future in my 26 gallon. Are they much more sensitive/difficult than neos?

They’re a little harder but you can definitely do it. Get just one for your 26 gallon and they do well in typical tropical environments but they need a place to sit infront if the water flow and you’ll have to grind food into a powder to make sure he has enough pull from the water column. You HAVE TO do those two things because they filter feed so much that there’s noticeably less particles in my 55g after I added him.

It was a local store about two hours from home. Only ever ordered fish online twice and only happy with one.
