My Background

So, everyone should know that my profile said I had ten or more years of fish keeping experience.
Well, that wasn't all accurate. Yes, I have been keeping fish for twelve years, but I took a long break in between and lost most of my knowledge, if not all of it. I want to put my settings back to normal, and show everyone who I really am, and what I really know.

I got my very first betta fish when I was four years old, and now I am sixteen.
My break was about twelve years long before I got back into the hobby, and started off with a betta again at the age of 14. I got my first official betta twelve years ago, but this past time was my "true" first time because I had forgotten everything about betta care.

Now, I bought Luna in 2016, and restarted my fish keeping hobby.
I have had many bettas since then, and now I can officially say that I have caught up and know what to do. Thanks for supporting me for these two years on the forum, and making my knowledge bigger, and stronger

My profile now says I have two years of experience, and lists every detail for each of my tanks.

I'm guessing there was some serious change in your tanks from when you were 4 to 16!

Yes, there was.
I kept all of my bettas in bowls when I was a kid, that really makes me regret it now
Now, I am doing my very best for my bettas, and learning all I can.

Don't feel bad buddy. My parents put a fish tank in my room when I was young. Maybe like 6-7 years old? I only remember bits and pieces. I remember, off the top of my head, 2 mollies, a swordtail, ??? guppies, 2 chinese algae eaters in what I'm pretty sure was a 10 gallon tank. What did it in was the pretty blue betta we all picked out together. Dead fish everywhere. So yeah, especially with this being 20+ years ago, I don't bring it up.

Thanks, but it feels nice letting everyone know I am pretty new!
My mom always asks me why do your bettas live shorter lives than ones crammed up in flower vases or tiny jars, it's really aggravating too.

I don’t think the ones in vases or jars are out living yours. I think they’re being replaced fairy often.
My first betta was a gift in a vase with THE plant. It only took me a few days to decide the fish wasn’t happy with no room to swim and THE plant had to go. So he got his own ten gallon. Until someone had an apple snail that got too big for their vase. So I got a 30 long. My fish lived for 5 years. My apple grew to be the size of a softball. Then I got another betta and two apples. One was blonde (Barney) the other was dark (Fred). I miss my apples. I have some mysteries now thanks to a fishlore buddy. Already an inch! I know they’ll never be as big as Barney (grapefruit) but I love them anyway.
Sorry. I love talking pets.
