So, the other day, I had to move my fishtank. I drained the water (because I can’t lift it otherwise) and put the fish in a 10 gallon with their old drained water. All was well. I filled the tank back up, put rocks in and let it sit for an hour. All was well. I slowly acclimated the fish. All was well. Then, about an hour I came back to mind my angelfish *dead on the tank floor. I quickly scoooed it out and put it in the little old tank water I had left. Consequently, it was Christmas and my family (who I love) was there. My mom took one look at the fish and said “sweetheart, that fish is dead as a door nail” however, as the great Charles Dickensens put it, “doornails aren’t the most dead piece of iron” (he thought a coffin nail had to have been) the angelfish breathed! I was astounded! The angelfish made it through the night (barely) and continued to lay on her side and breathe. The next day, she kind of wriggled to greet me. I was astonished. By the next day, I moved her to a one gallon heated tank. While it felt cruel, O thought she was going to die and it was a nice, comfortable place to spend her last few hours. There were a few moments where an sincerely considered euthanizing her. But, I couldn’t. I loved that angelfish and thought the kindest thing I could do was let her die in peace. I resolved myself to euthanize the next day, However, when I woke up she was swimming normally! She swam and swam (and ate like a pig!) seeing her swimming I knew she had an fighting chance so I didn’t euthanize. I’m so happy that the day after I can report she ate more, and is swimming normally. I’ll attach pictures.
