Tank

What is the water volume of the tank? I have a 30 gallon for qt for it. But it's in here for photo taking to help you guys
How long has the tank been running? My 30 gallon has been going 2 months
Does it have a filter? Yes 2 hobs
Does it have a heater? Yes
What is the water temperature? 72
What is the entire stocking of this tank? (Please list all fish and inverts.)
It's just my shu in the 30 gallon since end of September
Maintenance
How often do you change the water? 24-48 hours
How much of the water do you change? 30-75%
What do you use to treat your water? Start right
Do you vacuum the substrate or just the water? I have her bare bottom

*Parameters - Very Important
Did you cycle your tank before adding fish? Sure did
What do you use to test the water? Strips / api
What are your parameters? We need to know the exact numbers, not just “fine” or “safe”.

Ammonia: <10
Nitrite:0
Nitrate:<20
pH: around 8.4 but had my shu longer than 1 year like this with out knowing and she never had a problem toll end Sept.

I also don't know what's up with the ammonia and such. I did recently mess up my 55 gallon cycle maybe I did this too. Ugh

Feeding
How often do you feed your fish? Once/twice daily
How much do you feed your fish? I only give her a pinch and maybe skip a day or 2 a week
What brand of food do you feed your fish? Wardlys & Tetra
Do you feed frozen or freeze-dried foods? I buy fresh peas and freeze them

Illness & Symptoms
How long have you had this fish? Almost a year and half
How long ago did you first notice these symptoms? September 22nd this year she had dropsy, went into a salt bath and was gone by 10 hours. Almost 2 weeks later she started to slowly bloat in her butt.
In a few words, can you explain the symptoms? Her butt keeps swelling now it's RED
Have you started any treatment for the illness? Like almost 2 weeks ago she went thru the lifeguard all in one 5 day treatment and she's worsening
Was your fish physically ill or injured upon purchase? Nope, but she came from Walmart
How has its behavior and appearance changed, if at all? She still tries to swimm all over, top tank, plucks the bottom etc. I'm just scared gravel (all I have) will hurt her or cause more issues with her bc it's a lil difficult to clean around. I plan on getting sand soon. And I don't want to risk any poop and food causing her more problems if it lingers even tho I always clean the bottom every water change

Explain your emergency situation in detail. (Please give a clear explanation of what is going on, include details from the beginning of the illness leading up to now)

I need help figuring out if this is worms or something.

Hello...

Unless you have experience in fish biology, you can't be certain what's going on with your fish. The only things you can do are to begin an aggressive water change routine. Gradually work up to the point you remove and replace half the tank water every few days. Do a good job of vacuuming the bottom material every time you change the water and use a teaspoon or two of standard aquarium salt in every five gallons of new, treated tap water. Follow these steps until you see improvement in the fish.

See I been putting 1/4 teaspoon bc that's what I read of it, and do pretty much almost full water changes that I use start right with. But my fish just gets worse and worse. I've even used peas to try and help to if maybe it's just constipation. I've seen twitching once a week ago

I was hoping the all in one would have helped too but it didn't really do anything.

All I can think of it being is a tumor, or some kind of swelling caused by a cancer like disease. If it is like that there is not much you can do about it. I agree with Oldsalt, you need to keeping changing the water and monitoring her. And overall try to keep her in comfortable water conditions.

Not sure how much this would help, but it won't do any harm. Maybe try feeding her Epsom Salts? As well as keep parameters and conditions pristine. It works as a laxative and salts in the gut help with internal parasites such as Spironucleus. All you do is get a container filled with 1/2 cup distilled or tank water and dissolve 3/4 tsp Epsom Salts. Use a pipette to slowly moisten some pellet food at the bottom of a shot glass or something. Let it soak for a bit and feed as directly to fish as possible.

Regular salt (sodium chloride) can cause fluid retention, Epsom Salts (magnesium sulfate) helps draw fluids out. Both can be beneficial for ailing fish, but I prefer to dose feed where I can instead of dosing the water.

Hello increase the salt dose, up to a couple of teaspoons for every five gallons of replacement water. Aquarium salt is good for injuries or for dealing with infections. No other medications are needed.
