theres plent of other spaces to hang out by why there? lul. im wondering if its they only place they can go because of my 2 black skirts. i assume they are jerk holes to everyone. am i not providing them with something. i mean i suppose that is the only place that a fish like a black skirt cant go/or doesnt

i have like 2 or 3 cards and probably 7 or more neons, 2 albino cory(i keep meaning to buy more buy every time i go to my lfs they dont have any) 2 black skirts, 5 nerite snails las i counted and started with, i guess i only have 3 shrimp that i counted that live behind my hob, i lost a bunch somehow, maybe they were eaten or something. maybe they died in qt i dont remember. Anyway yeah.

this is generally what my tank looks like though the hob filter is in the middle section now and i have slightly more Anubias along the "log"(they keep growing so i keep finding spot for pieces :p)

I’ve witnessed amanos taking food from fish, they aren’t shy usually. It could be they have just found a buffet behind your hob and are happy there or they are being nipped at. I’d guess the black skirts for it too, probably because of the numbers of them and they can’t really show inter species ‘ aggression / nipping ‘.

your tank looks to have more than enough places to forage and hide though.

are they trying to leave the water at all ?

no they just chill back there. the only time one comes out is food time and it starts crawling out, i say it, because it's always one

There are more than enough hiding places in what looks like a beautiful tank
Whenever there's fish in a tank shrimp will look at them as predators but amano can look after themselves, id say and agree with Blacksheep1 they are happy with the food source there
Remember amano can filter feed and thats what may be happening

do you mean like food is building up back there? like that area between the glass and the hob basket?

You’re welcome. But I’d leave it ! If the shrimp are finding it as a hiding spot and feeding and feel safe then leave it .

Are they new additions to the tank ?

If there's a good water flow then they will filter feed instead of picking at the algae
I know there are people here that have had shrimp living in the filter or in the flow of the hob and every time the filter was cleaned and they got disturbed they would end up going back there just for the food source, its not what some would like as they buy them to see them, its what makes them so unique to use their surroundings for a constant food supply.
If it was a predatory thing from fish then they would be trying to get at them all thd time

compared to the rest yeah. maybe a month or 2.

i had more when i bought them all. i dont remember what happened to them. then i ended up only seeing 3. i do remember i lost 1 on day one because im dumb and it crawled down the sink drain (obviously forgot to plug it before trying to net them from their bag). didnt realize they were skilled jumpers.
