My 65 gallon peacock tank

hello I just wanted to share a little video of my fish tank I just set up 2 weeks ago. I originally had a 30 gallon fish tank and really started to realize a lot of fish need more room than I thought and I want them to be happy and comfortable. So I decided to save up for a 75 gallon but the spot I wanted the tank in wouldn't fit a 75 gallon so I got a 65 gallon that it 24 inches high 36 inches long and I believe 18 or 19 innches in depth. I liked it because they have a decent amount of depth and it fits perfectly in the spot I wanted it in. I know eventually I want to get a 125 gallon but need to move some things to make room. I decided I wanted to have a all male African chiclid tank because I was told that females will bring out more aggression in the males so I have about 3 females in my 30 gallon and I have my two ob peacocks in my 65 gallon. one is called Firefly and the other bumblebee. I really wanted to get black and white sand but ended up with pure water pebbles. and I'm in the process of adding live plants, I currently only have one. I have a top fin pf 75 power filter but will probably switch to a fluval andI have a fluval 300 watt heater. I've only recently been into fishkeeping and really love it so just wanted to share my tank that I recently set up.Also I'm sorry about the bad video quality

I'm not an expert on african cichlids, but I'm pretty sure rift cichlids enjoy a lot of rockwork to dart in and out of. I don't know for sure but I like how your tank looks

You're off to a good start. Think about creating a good sized rock pile hardscape. Your Peacocks will feel more at home, it will buffer against a PH crash, and keep the water at an African Cichlid friendly elevated PH.

Thank you I am trying to get it the best I can but I am new to this all so I'll definitely take everything I hear and use it. I was definitely thinking about trying to create a couple decent rockn caves but have never done it before so don't really know where to start. Could I use any rocks or do you think the real slate rock they have on Amazon would be better. I would probably remove my 2 artificial caves so I'm not using more space because I want them to have good swimming space. Also what about driftwood could I create some good hiding spots they would like with that.

That's a really nice natural looking tank. I Want to have my tank look more natural but kind of feel lost in knowing how to do it.I'll look what my local fish store has in rocks and see if I can make some more natural hiding spots for them or check and see what Amazon has. Your tank has so many hiding spots your fish probably love exploring it and feel happy in there.

Shop for rocks at your local rockyard or landscape company. Huge selection, cheap prices. The fish store decor is expensive.

Ok thanks for your help man I'll definitely see what they have and I never thought of that but that's a real good idea I could probably buy double or triple the rock than my petsmart. I have two more peacocks coming Wednesday so I want them to feel safe when they come to their new home and my fish Firefly can be a bully sometimes

Probably cost 15 cents to 35 cents per lb. I had a great time rock hunting at my local rockyard.

Yea that's definitely a good idea and I bet they have a lot more variety and sizes to choose from. I imagine it's safe to put any type of rock in a aquarium right.

Look for limestone, especially Honeycombed limestone. Rounded River stone, Granite, Quartz, just about any rock will do. Avoid rocks with metalic veins & grainy sand stone.

Ok thanks a lot man. I'm still trying to learn everything with taking care of fish and maintaining a fish tank so I still have a lot to learn. It's nice to know there's always people out there to help with questions. Do you think it will be fine to have multiple ob peacocks together? I have 2 males in my 65 and 3 females in my 30 gallon and they seem to get along for the most part just the occasional nip and Chase here and there but nothing to serious so far. I'm about to add 2 more males on Wednesday.

I've had as many as three Blue Dragon Bloods together in one tank. Blue Dragons are hybrid Peacocks, as are OB's. You never know until you try.
There are numerous varieties of very colorful Peacocks. I wouldn't put two like male pure blood Peacocks in one tank, unless the tank was huge.
The strongest one will likely kill the weaker, or the subordinate will not color up.
