From the Video it looks like your pearl is a female as far as I can tell

Agree on female, unless he's a stressed little boy.

I think your both right on the female pearl. All the pics ive seen of the males have a lot more red/orange to them

Love the tank, love the background. I can recommend the pearls, beautiful peaceful fish, I watch mine for hours regarding the background being hard to see, I mounted mine with sea clear oil (made for mounting backgrounds, but appears to be simple silicon based oil), it brightens it up like you would not believe when you take time to exclude all the air. I don't mean to hijack your post, just wanted to show you how clear and bright it is.

See the product on their website, your local aquarium will have it, cost around £5 ($8)Seaview Brilliant Backgrounds - Seaview Gel | Seaview I can vouch for their before/after pictures it does work that good. TrI'm your background to size before mounting it, spread the oil on evenly, lay your background against the glass from one side, oh and keep a couple of cloths handy to catch the excess when you exclude the air as the oil comes out too. If you look from the inside you can see how you are progressing getting the bubbles out. Good luck.

Thanks tyspot1000 after a year, the mango root (plastic) was covered top to bottom in algae. Two Siamese flying foxes and two sucking loaches sorted it out in about two weeks...lol

I'm amazed they haven't exploded.

Wish I'd got them earlier.

Really nice looking tank. I really like your rocks and rainbows. Hope your gouramis get along, but if they don't, don't hesitate to take one back and get something else. The pleasure of an aquarium (in my opinion) is happy, healthy fish. Enjoy your tank.

Thanks everyone!

Everybody is getting along fine so far. The Gouramis pretty much ignore eachother. There is some minor chasing among the Rainbows and among the Kribs but nothing bad.

Its great, every time I walk up to the tank all the rainbows swim up to the front because I usually give them food when I'm there. Now they expect it every time

Ok heres a new Video now that my tank is about fully stocked(awaiting nerite snails from Harpua to top it off). Pics never come out good with my phone since the Rainbows never stop moving so I think they look much better on video.

You know I'm not even sure yet. As best I can tell from some threads on here, all 3 are female. Going by this thread by Butterfly, , they all look like the female.

Also when I went back to my LFS after I had looked up how to sex them it looked like all the kribs in the tank I got mine out of were female too.

Ive been having problems with the Cabomba. Its been losing leaves and the tops have been softening and coming off. So I decided to take it all out and do some cleaning.

I moved another little plant I had in the back right corner to the front right corner and gravel vacced the back of the tank. I have a bunch of Anubias coming in the mail today, Congensis, Lanceolata, Afzelii, and Coffeefolia.

Once I get them all in ill get some new pics up.

Ok got all the plants in but the background still looks a little bare to me. Going to look for a few more plants to put in there.

Doing all that got me wanting some more different plants, and I wasn't completely happy with how everything looked so I did some more resarranging and took out the banana plants. Also took out the LFS floating plants on the left and moved some of my water sprite over there. Ive got a bunch more plants coming this week and ill get some more pics up soon.

All the rest of my plants came and I got them in the tank today.

Cryptocoryne Spiralis
Cryptocoryne Crispatula
Cryptocoryne Parva
Anubias Minima
Amazon Sword
Wisteria (Hygrophila Difformis)

The Amazon Sword is lookin a little rough but hopefully it will be alright. I don't think ill be adding anything else any time soon unless any of the plants don't make it. Here are some new pics.

I have that same exact problem with the platies and stuff in my 36 Gallon BF! They always swarm to the front when someone walks in and they get into feed mode so they are constantly like, FOOOD! I took a video last night I'll put it up later!

Nice tank btw!

Been quite awhile since ive posted to this thread. I made an update thread for this tank a few months ago but I thought id get back to the original. Have taken out and added a few fish and plants since starting the tank.

My Honey Gourami dissappeared at one point which I attributed to my overly aggressive Garra Rufa so I took them both back to my LFS. I added a Neon Jewel Cichlid which I admit was probably not the best idea. Also added a few more nerite snails to help with algae issues.

I started dosing Excel for my plants which made my Java Fern and Anubias BarterI go crazy. All the other plants are doing very well.

Today I added another Anubias BarterI and a Cryptocoryne Lutea, both thanks to Harpua. And here is a current video of the tank, enjoy;D

So I got tired of how dirty this tank has been and the aquascape has gotten a little old. Today I did some major rescaping and gravel vaccing. I'm going to add some more plants soon but for now this is how it looks.

Ive made some new additions to the tank lately. Got some great advice in another thread which lead me to fill out my stock a little. Ive added 2 more Pearl Gouramis and 5 Zebra Loaches.

I was having some issues with some fin nipping between my kamaka rainbows but that seems to have sorted itself out and everyones fins are healing and regrowing.

The new Gouramis seem to be getting along well together and the Loaches are having a great time and are oblvious to everyone else. I was worried maybe my Jewel would have some issues with them but he ignores them more than anyone else.

Also added a little to the aquascape with another rock on the right side and some Sword plants in the back left.

And a few new pics, enjoy!
