KrissyBunnie
I started cycling this tank in early November of 2021. Started slowly adding plants and eventually fish once it was cycled. I suppose I'm comfortable showing it now, even though it's not completely done.
Currently I use GloFish gravel because that's all my LFS had. I have a java fern that I split into two. There's some kind of anubias. A Wendilov, Oriental sword and an Amazon sword, and a bunch of red ludwigia. I think I might have some cryptocoryne but I don't remember lol.
I've been cloning a lot of these plants and putting them on the left side of the tank. There's also a small amount of duck weed (hitchhiked) at the surface, but the turbulence keeps it limited. I'm aware some of the plants aren't looking great, but I can assure you that they're certainly better than when I bought them.
Currently I have six neon tetras, and I'm planning on getting two or three more. There's four possibly tiger shrimp but they were sold as ghost shrimp. I plan on buying at least 10 or 20 more shrimp from one of the sellers here at some point. Also I have one assassin snail, and a fry that accidentally came with the shrimp, I believe it's a fancy guppy. I may get one or two honey gouramis, or maybe some more guppies to give that one company. I'm not really sure how to stock something like this.
I have the light on a timer (10a to 8p) and I use an Ehiem automatic fish feeder, rotates twice in the morning and once in the evening, door is about 25% open. Tetramin tropical flakes and occasionally a shrimp and lobster pellet. I use a Tetra whisper iq20 filter and keep the power at about 80%.
I haven't had ammonia or nitrites since late November. I do a weekly water change every wednesday, the nitrates are usually between 20 and 40 before I do. The pH ranges between 7.4 and 7.8. I keep the temperature at around 76° f.
I use API tap water conditioner, API Master test kit, and API CO2 booster at 50% doses every other day.
If you read all these details I appreciate it. I know with this hobby people like to be thorough.
If anybody has any comments or recommendations, I'm open to them. Of course, cost is also a factor because I am on a limited budget.
Thank you!
