My 18.5g Tank

HI just thought I would show everybody my 18.5g tank I was supposed to be a long term quarantine tank but I got a little carried away with it so now its another display tank.

This was taken just after it cycled and I had removed the 3 smaller filters. I kept 1 larger filter and a makeshift spraybar. I also filtered the sand with a net as it had a lot or clumps in it.

I then added driftwood and plants I had lying around and not much has changed since then.

This is the tank today, I just did a PWC so please excuse the mess. I want to add some more plants like Val and Amazon sword. I will remove the 1 large BN pleco and add 3 peppered corys and 2 more harlequin's. I would also like to add my pygmy corys and some of my cherry shrimp to this tank.

As it stands today I have
9 male guppies
6 harlequin rasboras (soon to be 8)
2 peppered corys (soon to be 5)
1 large BN pleco (soon to be in a 55g)
1 small BN pleco

1 Otto 600LPH internal filter
1 100w aquazonic heater
1 DEE planted LED light
1 3ft Aquaone T5 light

8-10kg Play sand
Plants and driftwood

I am very happy with this tank, it has been running a while now and I never see more than 5ppm nitrates. I don't like the internal filter though, I plan on changing it to a Fluval 106 canister.

The parameters are
pH 7.6
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 5 (after 2 weeks)
GH 8
KH 5
Temp 25c/77f

I hope you guys like it.

Thank you Ed204! The biggest problem with the tank has been the large pleco, he makes such a mess of the sand by digging holes everywhere.

He is a Bristlenose around 4.5". I keep my larger breed plecos in a 55 gallon and I am going to be upgrading it to a sumped 250g tank. I will then be using the 55 gallon for the smaller fish like the BN pleco, corys, guppies ect.

I haven't really decided yet. I might get some bigger sized fish like the salmon tail or I might get lots of smaller catfish like the driftwood catfish (T.fisheri). I would also like to do a tanganyikan cichlid tank with lots of synodontis catfish. I could also go saltwater and keep a walking shark that would be a lot of fun. This is why I have MTS lol.

I am starting to think I should get a bigger tank, I could fit a maximum 12x5x5ft tank in the space I have but the size worries me a bit. If it broke it would be like a tsunami and the cost involved is outrageous.

I have 1 Synodontis Eupterus IMO they make a good bottom feeder for a big tank. Other than that, Best of Luck and Happy Fish Keeping!
