HI Jack... its a good start! ;D I'm sure it will be very nice when you add plants.Do you have the rest of the equipment yet, like filter, heater etc etc? What did you end up deciding for fish to stock it with?

yer filter and heater are both contained inside that black box on the right hand side. I have opted to get 3 sparkling gourami, 3 kuhlI loaches and 1 other fish I haven't decided on yet.

haha your campaigning pretty hard tom, hopefully I can find one (I only have room for one with the other fish I want to stock) but price could be an issue as my bank account is currently measured in cents not dollars :;juan

Jack

About to leave to go get plants, maybe some ornaments, hopoefully a few terracotta pots and definantly some gourami :;juan

Hey everyone I just got back from the lfs and was quite unimpressed with the sparkling gourami so I opted to buy 2 female dwarf coral blue gourami anda few plants. Photos will follow when I have finished acclimatizing them (i'm taking my time probably like an hour to an hour and a half.)

Thanks its there actually my first additions apart from the feeder fish I used to cycle the tank, I took them out and back to the lfs. the new gourami are approx. the same size is it possible to get the male tomorow or would that upset the balance to bacteria balance too much?

IMO you can add another one tomorrow. Just keep up with your water changes for awhile til the new bioload catches up.

The BN Pleco is a good pickup. They generally only get to about 4" and would be an excellent addition to your tank.

Hey thanks kate, believe it or not the log is fake and when I put it in boiling water it started opening up because its only like a half tube. I am really happy with it and I just got a 2.5G tank on eBay for $14.50 aussie (about $12 US) and i'm planning on putting a betta in so really happy lol.

Hey that is pretty kewl!!!! On the 2.5 g can I suggest that you buy yourself a nice female betta instead of a male? The females are a little smaller and will do much better in that 2.5 than a male would. And there are some beautiful females out there too... Just check them out and look at the fins you will notice a difference in them. Some are the typical short fins and others with the longer triangle (wedge) shaped bottom fin will produce longer flowing fins. And they all come in beautiful colors as well.
Happy hunting!!

Unfortunately my BGRs both died, however the lfs is going to give me a store credit cause it was wihin 2 weeks, what do you guys think is a good hardy option for with my dwarf gourami (3 of them)? I preferably want something hardy cause I don't want to go back to the lfs and say I killed more fish.

Jack

Any ideaes at all? I'm heading of to the lfs this afternoon and was hoping to have a vague idea of what I would like to get.

HI Jack,
sorry to hear you lost your GBRs that's just awful!! They are such great fish...
I wonder if there was a problem between them and the dwarf gouramis?
Doesnt sound like there would but you never know.
There are so many variations of their color, that you can get a few more assorted? Or you can go with cory cats which are pretty kewl. Ive had the dwarf gourami in my tanks before, they really were able to get along with every tankmate except the bettas, so you have a wide choice but need something small since you have them in a 15 gallon tank. I personally wouldnt get any more even tho their adult size is anywhere from two inches to three. 5 dwarfs with no other fish I would think would be max for your tank.
What other types of fish do you like?

Hey kate,

I didnt have any trouble between the two fish, they just left each other alone. I was thinking maybe a pair of goldern pachaex (spelling?) they are a relative of killifish, I was also thinking maybe a few guppies. with the dwarves you only really see the coral blue in females and I already have two in that colour and I don't want to put more than one male in my tank.

Jack.

PS yes my consideration of killifish is toms fault rofl.

hmmm usually the only really colorful gourami's are the males. The females tend to be plain in coloration. Guppies seem so dainty for a tank with gourami's. The relative of the killifish.. don't know that one, but I'm sure that Tom could give you more info on that. ;D

I'm not sure of the name but I presume its a juwel of some type because it came with the tank and runs with the heater in the black box on the right.

Thanks, Jack
