Multiple Platies

Recently, I have given up on getting a honey/dwarf gourami for my tank. I can't find honeys, and any dwarf I see looks sickly and weak. I wish to add to my current platy count of 3 in my 20 gallon standard tank with an AquaClear 50. It also houses 6 albino corys. I want a bunch of different colors like blue Mickey Mouse, blue rainbow, red wag, etc.

Would the new platies need fish of the same color scheme to socialize with, or would they be fine with all different colors? I also ask this because my platies were pretty brutal when establishing their pecking order, and I don't want any new loner platy to become stressed from being picked on without friends. Do platies see a difference in color?

P.S I'm getting all males, is it possible that too many males will fight too much

I think as long as they look alike in body shape, they should be OK. They may not school at first because like you said, they do indeed have different colors.
---
I think going with Platies with SIMILAR colors would work much better.(Ex. Gold Twinbar + Sunburst + Mickey Mouse)
---
I think all males should be OK, although there may be some fighting between them. I would do all females simply because they are considered more peaceful.
---
Also, you NEED to know what the difference of what the opposing genders look like. I believe the males have a spear looking bottom fin, while females have a spread out half circle looking fin.
---
(Be warned that I am not 100% sure on this as I do not have any true experience with Platies, although I have done research on the topic.)
---
Good Luck!

Ah, then I think that I may get at least 2 of the same color so that they can recognize each other. Also, I'm doing all males, no females getting stressed to death . Just want to make sure that there's no possibility of too many males.

Just edited my last post, I added a little bit more info for you. Feel free to view it if you want

Hi, I have 10 platies currently and I honestly don't think color makes a difference. Unlike guppies or even my mollies, my platies tend to be very independent swimmers and though they all get along well do not seem to seek out others with their same colors. This may be because I have such a large amount of them, not sure. In my main tank I have a tuxedo, orange micky mouse, blue wag, sun burst, gold.

I have all females. I have a tank full of their fry right not that I'll be giving away to my local fish store over time. Have a few really cool mixes from the males I had where the fry are silver and black (like a blue) and some cool rust colored ones with black fins.

The issue with all females is 1. I already have 3 males, and 2. they could come pregnant. I guess they'll just have to fight out their pecking order.

Platys aren't schooling fish so it doesn't matter what color you get. Keep in mind if you get a female it could be pregnant when you get her leading to tons of fry even if you don't intend to breed.

I agree, color doesn't seem to matter to them. I have red wag, sunset and blue and I don't notice any segregation between the colors. I can't help with the all male pecking order though since I have mixed genders.
