Multiple breeds of snails in one tank?

Okay, so my dilemma is that I don't want to have to deal with snail babies, but I would a few snails... Now I know I can have nerites, who don't breed in freshwater. But what about if I have a few from the different breeds? Like one mystery, one nerite, one Malaysian etc?
Will they crossbreed? Fight? Snails are completely new to me, so feel free to educate me! I also want a few shrimp?

They shouldn't cross breed and I think snails aren't the most violent creatures. Just make sure you don't get snails that can reproduce alone (Pond Snails), and don't get Assassin Snails. (They eat other snails.)

For shrimp I would get Red Cherry Shrimp or Ghost Shrimp

I know the Malaysians are often considered pest snails and I believe this is because they breed excessively and only need one, mysteries and nerites are fine together I have them together, mysteries poop a lot but are really active and fun to watch. Nerites are great at eating algae.

Oh boy. No Malaysians for me then! What other snails would you suggest? They would go into a tank with a betta, so keep that in mind... And I've no idea if he will be nice to them yet or not. I hope he will... I don't want him to bully them.

I would like to get a few more plants before I get snails, so I have time to decide. A month or so maybe?

Nerites are safest, I have one in with my mean betta no issues, if he's less aggressive, rabbit snails and mystery snails are fun bettas may try to nip their antennas though.

Mysteries and nerites are fine together but I'd avoid small snails like ramshorn, bladder, mts, I know my bladder snails and ramshorn sometimes get in the shells of my mysteries :/

I had ghost shrimp with my betta for a long time, he didn't bother them, but it depends entirely on the temperament of your particular betta, some eat/kill them and some (like mine) couldn't care less.

Hmm, okay. I don't know, he seems pretty aggressive? But I haven't had anything in with him, so he may be different when it actually comes down to it. He just likes to flare a lot.
I'm just gonna go all or nothing and hope for the best... 2 snails, and maybe 10 shrimp?

If your betta seems aggressive I would get ghost shrimp, they are larger and a bit harder for bettas to eat and harder for bettas to see. (AND SO FUN TO WATCH!)

Cherry shrimp are tiny, bright red, and a lot more expensive than ghosties so not the best option for a aggressive betta, I wouldn't risk buying 10 cherries and having them all gobbled up.

Kk. I'll get some ghost then and see how that goes! How about some culls from someone? They are very very light colors, almost translucent but not quite? Look like ghosties except for a tinge of color.

Culls sound fine, good idea.

Cool beans! Ill just stick with the culls then. About 10 or so? Or should I go for a lower amount?

Cherries don't get territorial so you could get even more than that.

Well the guy I'm buying them from, I think he mixes a few of his lines or something? So I don't know if they are pure cherries.

Mixing them would mean mixing them with other colors of Neocaridina shrimp, like neon yellow, blue, and orange, not making hybrid shrimps. So they will act the same and require the same care.

Lol, shrimps are pretty snazzy, huh? I have 12 fire red cherries coming in the mail, I am gonna set up a planted shrimp bowl to breed them away from fish. Once I have a little colony going I will set up a 10 gallon shrimp only tank. YAY FOR SHRIMPS!

They are pretty cool! And a good alternative to betta tank mates. Bettas are kinda hard sometimes lol

I don't have any experience with the shrimp or with a fish and snail combo tank, but as far as a multi-type of snail tank goes...I love mine!

I have apple snails, mystery snails, nerite snails, and one Columbian ramshorn snail (the big one, not the little pest ramshorns.) Everyone gets along peacefully and shares food together, and their temperature requirements are all very close so everyone is happy. The only issue I've ever had is that my Columbian ramshorn tries to breed with one mystery snail in particular a couple times a week...if I catch him, I'll pick him up and move him off her. She doesn't seem thrilled, but it's never hurt her and I try to separate them when I see it. No mutant babies, though - he's trying for nothing.

Don't get a mystery if your Betta may be aggressive. Even the most docile bettas are sometimes tempted by their long food like antennas lol. I would start with one nerite from somewhere you can take it back if your Betta is mean to it (ex. Petco) I don't love petco and I prefer not to get live things there but they do have a return policy on live aquatics which is rare. Nerites come in all different colors and sizes so if he doesn't bother the one nerite I would get more of a different kind. You should look it up there's tiger, zebra, horned, tracked, and many more.

I don't see where it said what size tank you have. How many gallons is it? If it's 5 I would do 1 snail 5 shrimp (ghost). If it's less than five only the Betta can live there. If it's 10 or more you could have all the snails and shrimp (;

I have a ten a gallon

Since I'm buying some from here in not sure if he would do returns? But I'm gonna set up a smaller tank for them if everything goes south. Its a small 2.5 but they would have it all to themselves!
Would that be okay?

Sure would. I bet they'd love it.

I just gotta get them a sponge filter for it. Right now it just has the one my betta had before his ten, and in my opinion is way to strong for that little tank.
